What really boggles my mind is he is praising China and it's communist system, yet Trump's supporters are vehemently anti-communist, taking it so far as labeling liberals and socialists as communists.

He's not praising China. He's using the "sandwich" method that they teach in management school, where you deliver a criticism but bookend it with compliments so it doesn't sound so harsh. Read the full speech, not just the out-of-context excerpts.
