Weird Coalitions

In society & politics there are many single-issue groups which have their "pet" issues. They unite and make a little bit of noise for awhile, but usually their concerns are ignored. What strikes me as interesting is how serious they consider their cause. I'm not going to deny that there is some level of seriousness in the matters they bring up, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it either.

So anyway, here's one rather interesting group I found out here in California trying to effect driving laws (they've been getting some cable news coverage as well):

Can you guys find some interesting ones as well?

I kind of like that one.

In europe most people observe that and it makes driving way more pleasent.

Yeah, I think they have a legitimate gripe, but it's not something that makes people so upset that they demand action from their representatives to change things. People usually just deal with it.

OK, I hope this falls in the category. These people are genuinely concerned about getting hit by cars, but I think they want to go further and make bicycles the normal mode of transportation within San Francisco.

You be the judge:

OK, this story is a little old (and could be a joke), but it gives new meaning to the definition of "activism" in order to stop inhumane treatment:

Susan Munchkiphile, a long-time inadequacy psychologist wrote: that midgets face many humiliating things in society. "Midgets are often asked to pose for trophies or made fun of because you can see their whole body on their driver's license. Naturally, this gives them a big case of short-person syndrome. Oops, I said big, didn't I?"
Could be.

the article wrote:A spokesman for Six Flags stated that officials had contacted expert mediator Gary Coleman to help with the conflict. However, Mr. Coleman's reputation with the midget community took a huge hit when he failed to attend Tattoo's funeral and instead attended a benefit hosted by Bob Barker. Mr. Coleman in typical fashion blamed the confusion on Willis.

I'm guessing joke.
