Man, this place has changed! When I first started coming here, there was nothing but American politics!

Anyway, on 90% of the Comey testimony I have no opinion. I'll just watch it play out. I just wanted to say one thing:

Every single analyst I hear makes a point of saying emphatically, "this isn't Watergate." Actually, NEWS FLASH! This is exactly Watergate! It even starts the same way, with a breach of security at the DNC.

That is all. Now back to your regularly-scheduled flaming.

Comey isn't saying anything that hasn't already been said in the media 1,000 times over. Yawn.

I I actually phoned my boss and said I was gonna be lateish, so I cold watch it. was pretty anticlimactic, so I went to work. I'll let maher, Meyers & Colbert bring me up to speed later...

I know you have your own circus going on in England today, but in America this is a cultural phenomenon. Companies gave their employees the day off so they could stay home and watch it; bars opened early and gave out free drinks during the testimony.

I've been assigned to an extraordinarily boring work detail this week. I'm so catastrophically bored that I've been listening to talk radio the last few days. This morning, all the talk radio hosts pretended to be all aloof and shit (even here in Canada all the talk radio hosts are right-wing nuts) and swore solemn oaths that they wouldn't cover it. Three hours later, they were all backpedaling and playing clips from his testimony anyway.

One radio station did a survey of "who will play Comey when the movie comes out?" (The consensus was Tim Robbins.)

did you happen to catch "under the influence" on cbc? apparently, Lysol used to be a contraceptive...

I heard about that, and thought it was pretty tragic. Those people have taken the day off to listen to Comey trot out a bunch of lines that everyone already knew anyway. They might as well have taken the day off to find out what happens at the end of The Sixth Sense.

And Comey will definitely be played by Andy Bernard.
