There are some- "deplaning", "normalcy", "winningest", that I sort of understand. They're abominations, sure, but they are understandable
What the hell is a "clap back" though?

That's not American, that's Hip-Hopoian.
Apparently it means to return fire. "if someone shoots at you, you clap back at they ass."
Edit: Darn someone beat me to it.

Mumble rap. Can't stand that shit. I was at a Ghetto Boys concert and was sitting outside smoking and 2Chainz was polite enough to ask for the extra chair at the table we were sitting at.

I also don't really understand what "throwing shade" means, but just to be clear, even the NYTimes uses "clap back"- it has entered the American vernacular:
Although, they use it as "clapback", which does sound like a symptom of VD, to be fair to Khaz.

Throwing shade means very simply insulting someone. It seems to be vernacular that has arisen from Drag culture in America. I think Ru Paul might be the one responsible for coining the phrase.

I kinda thought that might be the meaning, but sort of associated it with "cast doubt", which seems similar.

I've never heard 'clap back'.
'Throwing shade' is fairly common, though.
