I'm not usually a fan of the specials, but I liked this one. I like Matt Lucas as a companion too, its been a while since the Doctor had someone who could offer an alien perspective. Liked it, you?

I expect more from Capaldi. He is the best Doctor out of the current batch, not sure if it was the script and another attempt to appeal to the US audience, but just didn't do it for me.

I kind of took the opposite view. I liked him more as the doctor in this than in most of the last season. The exception being "Heaven Sent", which was just brilliant.

I still haven't seen 80% of the episodes of the original series. I refuse to show any interest in the new one until I catch up on the old, and with Channel 19 no longer showing the original show, that might take the rest of my life.

Impossible, given that some of the original series is lost. Some footage occasionally turns up in someone's shed now and again, but a completionist will likely need actual time travel.

Plus you can probably skip anything involving Colin Baker.

...and the movies, avoid those like the plague.

Actually, the BBC is releasing animated versions of the missing episodes:

Also, Matt Smith was the best doctor (and the Ponds were the best companions).

I've heard they were doing something with the missing bits, but Matt Smith? Really?

1) Tom Baker, obviously
2) Jon Pertwee
3) David Tennant
4) Patrick Troughton

After that it's personal choice. I liked Sylvester McCoy, and Ace was a great companion.

Christopher Eccleston for best recent doctor, though David Tennant was good.

Amy pond was good, but Jenna Coleman..... Freema was good also, mostly cause she wasnt the companion.

huh, she was the companion... for a whole season... you must have missed it and only seen her bit at the end of the 4th season. She was the season 3 companion.

He's a tie for 5th with McCoy on my list. Love him for bringing back the series, and for the "lots of planets have a north" line. Hate him for bringing in the romantic companion stuff.
