Olympics in Rio de Janeiro; Third World Conditions

Rio de Janeiro is pretty much a dump right now. Just recently there have been reports of the waterways being filled with viruses and bacteria, advising people to close their mouth when swimming, and not going underwater. And on the same note the olympic sailing ramp in Rio collapsed. I know a guy whose parents are from Brazil, and they were shocked that Rio was chosen.

Rio had pretty much 6 years to figure this out. Despite being a BRICS country, they really dropped the ball on this. All water event Olympians face dangers of being 'violently ill'. Crime rate extremely high, can't really wander around in Rio, since the favelas are dangerous. The beach has the same toxic water. Less than half the olympic village buildings passed safety inspections. Corrupt cops running into New Zealand

What an absolute shame. These people trained their whole lives for this, and now they come and have to worry about their health and safety instead of performing.

Maybe they can all just hug and sing kumbya, that should do it, or maybe they can get Barry to tell them how good and safe everything really is. Now that would be a gold medal combination.
Oh I missed the part about all the cops being racist now that's the real problem, get rid of the cops, no more problem.
See how easy that was.

Yeah I don't understand it one bit. No country that is a poor and corrupt as Brasil should be given something that enables corrupt individuals to exercise their corruption - all the while costing society a huge amount (likely a significant wealth transfer from the government/poor to the corrupt).

I am a proponent of nominating a city in each of the 6 populated continents (eg. New York, Paris, Buenos Aires, Johannesburg, Beijing, Sydney); and enforce extreme expectations around corruption/profiteering (with the risk of losing hosting rights), and rotating between them every 24 years.

Zika, dirty water, and crime isn't what they really need to worry about.
Barry released a master bomb maker terrorist from gitmo, into Venezuela's custody, they lost him 2 months ago. Now what an absolutely perfect thing, every country in the world will be represented.
