The civil war was not about slavery, it was about the industrial revolution!! We have had this opinion that the civil war was about slavery when it was only one small aspect of it. People of the south do not cherish the fact that slavery is in our history. We would like to move on from it but the Democratic Party keeps accusing us of racism. Did the people know that a well known Republican fought for slavery!! His name was Abraham Lincoln!!

That'd be a convincing argument if it weren't for the fact that the Confederate States all said that it was about slavery at the time.

You've got the whole "cornerstone" speech, declaring that slavery was the base of the CSA, and there's pretty much every Confed state's declaration saying that slavery was why they seceded.

Dude, the people of the South need to stop pretending that their ancestors weren't in it for slavery.

The secession was about slavery, the war was about secession. It does not follow that the war was about slavery.

If the US decides to go back over there, I'll probably enlist again. Real tragedy what happened, can't believe the world as a whole hasn't done much of anything despite all the recent attacks.

Well, he didn't invade until the South opened fire on Fort Sumter. Lincoln never had plans to abolish slavery because he recognized that there would be a split if he did.

Really, the South brought everything that happened upon themselves. Secession, war, abolition of slavery (a good thing)...

Cuba, Brazil, and the others weren't apart of the US. The South seceded over slavery and opened fire because of it.

In short, it was about slavery, in this country.

Actually I totally forgot, IIRC each battalion of the CSA Army had a Battalion Fancy Lad. The Battalion Fancy Lad's job was to entertain the men and man the latrine glory hole. Often times those were the same thing. A few years ago they made a documentary about Battalion Fancy Lads:

Such pageantry! My favorite part was when he and the trannie pulled out the streamers and started doing a dance routine! I bet every man in that unit wanted to go "away down south" after seeing that.
