When you owe money to the USA government and have to write them a cheque at EOY, like if you owe money on income taxes or whatever, how do you make-out the check?

In the "Pay to the Order" line I've just always put "the United States" and they've always cashed my cheques. But someone else told me they put "United States Treasury" and a third person said they put "IRS" and then I read something online that said it should be "United States Government."

As I do about 20 personal and corp tax returns a year, I happen to recall it says "Please make checks payable to The Dept. of the Treasury" :D

IRS works too...surprised they took a check made out to the Guv'ment  Maybe try "Bloodsuckerz" next time....
