Glasses / Contacts - do you have/wear them? Or LASIK?

When I was 15 I had to get glasses. I was a little self-conscious. On the first day I had them I was walking home and walked by Linda Searcy's house. She came out and stood on the front porch and yelled at me "Hey! Cool specs!" That made me feel good and I didn't mind wearing them after that.

Three days later I was walking the same route and suddenly I felt a blinding pain in the side of my head and stumbled to one side. I looked around and saw Linda Searcy on her porch laughing. She had just thrown a decorative snow globe of Niagara Falls into the side of my head. I was mad but Linda Searcy said I could come over the next day and she'd pay me $20 to help her organize her genealogy.

When I showed up the next day there was a note on the front door that said she'd moved to Ohio. However, her Pontiac was still in the driveway and when I looked through the window I could see her on the sofa watching a Magnum PI marathon on Nick. I tapped on the window and could see her mute the TV and climb underneath a blanket on the sofa. Later I learned Linda Searcy didn't do genealogy.

I'm confused... am I supposed to answer the question in the thread title, or comment on the actual OP?

I told you, Serbia, Linda Searcy is a monster.

I wear glasses or contacts depending on the occasion. My sister got lasik, I'm envious. Wish i could afford it.

Well to answer the question: I have good eyesight. No glasses, no contacts, no need for corrective surgery. And the older I get, the more fortunate I feel for my good vision.

I wear glasses for work and when I wear them I look damn cool. No desire for laser eye surgery.

Would an episode of 'Moonlighting' hold up today. Knowing that it gave birth to Bruce Willis would probably make it seem too ominous.

"The name Searcy was brought to England in the wave of migration that followed the Norman Conquest of 1066. The Searcy family lived in Essex . Their name, however, is a reference to St. Saire, Normandy, the family's place of residence prior to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. Alternatively, the name could have been a trade name for someone who was "an assayer of metals."

I've worn glasses since I was a kid, mainly for being long-sighted rather than the more usual short-sighted reasons. I basically only take them off to sleep, and have done for as long as I can remember.

When I look at myself in the mirror without glasses, it looks uncannily like a stranger.

I sometimes take them off when I'm the new kid in school and the most popular kid takes me on as a project, trying to make me popular. There's usually a few dates with the captain of the football team after I agree to let them take me clothes shopping and to change my hair, but it always ends the same way.

I find out that the most popular kid paid the captain to take me out on a date, or that it was a dare, and when I confront them, we all realise that we've been shallow, and I end up learning to just be myself. The dark outsider that talked to me pre-makeover, who I was dragged along to play a prank on, but felt bad about because they were caring for their sick mother all along, was the one for me.

You couldn't make it up.

Like you could pull the captain of the football team. More like the badminton team.

I know, right! I should have known that he'd only asked me out on a bet/dare/or because the popular kid paid. I'm such an idiot. I even end up confronting el Capitano, surrounded by teammates, and it's as if there's no big deal, even though it actually meant something at one point, more than the bet/dare.

There's a bit of tension, obviously, but the outsider with the sick mom wrote a song about me.
