That would be great.
It would be like if Pepsi decided to bring back Crystal Pepsi. And then, after doing that, they decided to get rid of every other flavor of Pepsi except Crystal Pepsi.

Nonsense, and the bleak ravings of an old man- there would clearly be a Diet Crystal Pepsi.

It depends. If Trump gets screwed and you see a Rubio or worse a Romney get nominated, you will probably see the rise of the "Constitution" Party.
If Trump wins and the RINOS leave the party, they will call themselves Democrats, because that is what they are.

His ego would probably just call it the 'Trump-party' or the 'winners-party'. After all, everything he says seems to be about branding his name and creating a black and white image of the world.

The Know-Nothing Party, also known as the American Party, was a prominent United States political party during the late 1840s and the early 1850s. The American Party originated in 1849. Its members strongly opposed immigrants and followers of the Catholic Church Islam.

I was thinking more that he'd be the Repub, and the people who split based on that would form a new party.

Disintegration is better- it works on a few levels.

The practical ones (the ones that don't like any of the candidates and want absolutely nothing to do with Trump) should resurrect the Bull Moose Party. Only 3rd party since the GOP and Democrats that has been around that ever came close to having an elected POTUS, Teddy Roosevelt.
The racists, idiots, bigots, morons, (not that those are mutually exclusive) and fakes can stay in the "GOP" and go down with the ship with Trump, Cruz, and their friends.

If Trump wins, it'll probably be called the Trump Party. I mean, is there any other name. Maybe the Terrific Party. I could see him actually suggesting that.

Fillmore was a Whig, I think. Will check when I'm less lazy.

Whigs had the best campaign songs. I almost started a thread about campaign songs but then I decided I didn't care that much.
Harrison/Tyler vs. VanBuren
except Kennedy vs. Nixon was good, too!

He was, but Lincoln became the first Republican President in 1861. Fillmore was 1850-1853. Lincoln becoming President and the rise of the early Republican Party more or less signaled the end of the Whig Party.

Thanks for that, I wrote a dissertation on the Whigs' origins in the UK, so it's always interesting to see how the party translated.
What do you think Lincoln's take on Trump would be?

Probably wondering what the hell kind of rat Trump is keeping on his head.
In all honesty, probably wondering how someone like this got so far without actually offering viable solutions. For example, Lincoln didn't put up with his first Secretary of War, who was corrupt. A "professional politician" if you will. Lincoln brought in a guy that did the job right. He got rid of "the establishment" guy, so to speak.
Trump would appoint an establishment guy and keep them, considering he himself is an establishment guy.
