- Don't care about your constitution.
- Your military is too big anyway.
- In case of Russia I agree.
- Hurrah to that!
- Those "closest allies" in europe despised George Bush Jr. a lot more.
- Though I do think some things could've been done better, he just largely inherited his predecessors' mistakes.
- The US has been increasing its debt for ages.
- See point before this last one.
- As to Bush who turned the US into Big Brother?

Elaborate?

It seems like something we're going to have to have if we ever want to escape the confines of our planet and get out into the universe. You know, like Star Trek, Mass Effect, etc.
patches70 wrote:You know, I'm not a big fan of Obama. His policies are daft and pretty much exactly the same as previous administrations. I also don't like his rhetoric.
That being said, he's pretty much finished. He's out of office soon enough and the next guy won't be any better.
Threatened the U.S. Constitution- It's not like Obama is the first to do so. The Constitution has long since been undermined.
Weakened America's defenses- Not sure about that, the US still spends more on defense compared to any other country at obscene levels.
Encouraged our enemies- As if US foreign policy hasn't been encouraging our enemies for decades? Blowback is real and all too often ignored.
Moved us closer to socialism-All Statists and collectivists are moving the US toward socialism. Obama is hardly the cause. Every single presidential candidate is a statist. Virtually every Congressman is a statist. Large swaths of the US population acquiesce to the power of the State.
Irritated our closest allies- Irritating countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, yeah, I'm ok with that. f*ck em. And Europe is more than capable of standing on her own two feet. I don't like how the US bullies our allies. If we've irritated our allies it's not just Obama's fault and the policies that have irritated will continue with the next administration. Not only that, our Founder's warned us of entangling alliances, we should be getting ourselves out of the dangers of such alliances.
Increased our budget deficit- And it'll keep on increasing because we use a debt based currency. To eliminate debt is to eliminate the currency.
Increased our national debt- Same as above.
Weakened our economy- An unstable currency model has that flaw. It's hardly Obama's fault. It is going to happen regardless of the President, central bank or politicians.
Trivialized the War on Terror- The War on Terror is a scam. It's double speak for endless war and it supports the MIC. Not only that the US decided that NATO needs to continue and so needs a new mission. Oh, and that little problem of blowback rears it's ugly head as well.
And failed to meet his promises(most)- Ha! Like Obama is somehow the only President that didn't live up to his promises. Not to mention you ignore the complicity of those who believed his promises. If a politician promises some stuff to get elected and we believe his promises and vote based on that, then we deserve what we get.
Now the assassination of American citizens it very very bad. We've destroyed the Constitution that we are pretty much beyond repairing this mess. I wouldn't hold my breath for him to be held accountable for it though.
As for Scalia, he was a great SCJ IMO, but he was pushing 80. It's hardly suspicious that an old man dies in his sleep. The pillow over his head means nothing in and of itself. Hell, I sleep with a pillow over my head all the time (not over my face obviously but even that isn't much of a concern). Was there foul play involved? I have no idea and we'll never know, best to resign one's self to that, but I doubt there was foul play until someone comes up with some convincing evidence contrary and since there won't be an autopsy I doubt that evidence will ever come up even if it exists.
Obama isn't some sort of mustache twirling villain, he's just a bad President. We've had bad President's before and we'll have more in the future. All once great nation states eventually come to an end and the US is no different.
There are things that are just out of the individual's control. Stressing about only brings angst and unhappiness. All an individual can do is do the best they can with what they can control. Just understand that all these problems aren't going to change working through the system. It's all gotta burn down before there can be a chance to fix it. It's natural to try and pin the blame on one guy, or one event but this has been a long slow process. Great nations don't die overnight and we're all just as responsible as Obama.

I didn't think it was so great. He wrote a few lines pretending he doesn't support Obama, followed by a wall of text showing he's actually a huge apologist for the guy. It's the kind of tepid, lukewarm pussy shit I would expect from someone who voted for Obama twice and can't come to terms with the fact that they have a horrible political compass. I fully expect patches to double down by voting for Sanders.

I think the key is showing that of the OP's laundry list of complaints, about a third (weakened defenses, War on Terror) are bullshit, and the other two thirds (degraded constitution, debt-based currency, broken promises) are things which are common to all or most presidents and definitely not unique to Obama.
Dukasaur wrote:Really, I don't care about this all that much, but I do have trouble understanding the obsession with Obama. The worst thing you can say about him is that he promised change and instead continued all of Bush's evil policies.
