U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died today.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/antonin-scalia-found-dead-article-1.2530791

You can count on the Republican controlled Senate to oppose anyone who might be appointed to replace Scalia by President Obama

President Barack Obama on Saturday said he intends to nominate a new Supreme Court justice to replace Antonin Scalia.

"I plan to fulfill my constitutional responsibilities to nominate a successor in due time," Obama said, delivering remarks from Omni Rancho Las Palmas in Rancho Mirage, California.

Scalia, 79, died Saturday in Texas. His death leaves the Supreme Court with an even split of Republican and Democratic appointees during an election year.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell called on Obama to leave the nomination for Scalia's replacement to the next president. "The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice," he said in a statement. "Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President."

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid expressed opposition to leaving Scalia's seat unfilled for so long. The next president won't be inaugurated until January 2017.

There should't be.

There are those who support the idea that the constitution is a fixed legal document ...
And those who think they can just change what it means according to the whim of the day ...

Not that it matters, we live in post Constitutional country these days and one of the last defenders of the Constitution just died.
Democrats everywhere are rejoicing and praying for the death of one more black man.
Because Democrats (the party of slavery and segregation) are RACISTS in word and deed.
Even though they always blame the Republicans.

Here's a sampling of a Tea Party rally with Confederate Flags. Hey Tzor, I think this is a Republican event. Guess we all know that the Confederate Flag is loved by BLACKS.

Fun fact, Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg spent every New Year's Eve together since 1982 and would go on road trips together.

They even went to India together in '94 at the end of that year's Supreme Court session and spent a week meditating in an ashram outside Puna -

Circuit judge Sri Srinivasan leading contender to replace Scalia -

D.C. Circuit Judge Sri Srinivasan is perhaps the most attractive potential Supreme Court nominee for Obama if the goal is to put pressure on McConnell to allow a Senate confirmation vote. Nominated by Obama in June 2012, Srinivasan was confirmed in May 2013 by a unanimous, 97-0 vote.

Democrats believe that unambiguous verdict on Srinivasan could make it awkward for McConnell to block a vote on his nomination.

Srinivasan is widely viewed as a moderate. He clerked for Reagan-appointed Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

I'm not sure i want a man to be a Supreme Court Justice when he's still tied to the apron strings.

"Hey Mom, leave me alone, I'm trying to pass a ruling on this abortion thing."

"Don't take that tone with me, Sri. Clean your robes, and if you vote in favor I'll take away your tv privileges."

"Mom, please, go away."

"Oh, I see, I raised you for X years and now you're too good to listen to my advice? Well maybe I'll just move off to an old folk's home now that you don't need me."

sigh "Okay, Mom, I'll vote no."

"And clean your robes."

"And I'll clean my robes."

Scalia personally requested Obama appoint Elena Kagan!

A little taken aback that he was engaging me on the subject, I searched for the right answer, and lamely offered one that signaled my slight discomfort with the topic. "I'm sure he will, Justice Scalia."

He wasn't done. Leaning forward, as if to share a confidential thought, he tried again.

"Let me put a finer point on it," the justice said, in a lower, purposeful tone of voice, his eyes fixed on mine. "I hope he sends us Elena Kagan."

I was surprised that a member of the court would so bluntly propose a nominee, and intrigued that it was Kagan, the former Harvard Law School dean who was appointed solicitor general by Obama to represent the government before the Supreme Court. Later, I learned that Scalia and Kagan were friends, though I suspect she would have been as surprised as I was at the brazenness of Scalia's suggestion.
