By,"moral", as opposed to "ethical"? Hmm, what do you mean? Lacking in ethics? Explain

You question does not make sense.

You need to have an understanding of what moral and ethical means.

"You question" indeed, I suppose I do.

What is your understanding of the difference?

I refer to the video I posted.

You should ask PragerUniversity if you want to know what is meant by "Israel has the most moral army."

The video did not work for me, so I asked you. I'm not sure why I need to ask someone else for your understanding of the difference. Are you saying that you have none of your own?

If you are going to ask this question as if those words have a difference, the burden is on you to explain what the difference is.

I'm not entirely sure it is, but my definition tends toward morality as being about good and bad, and ethics about being right and wrong.

For example, it would be ethically wrong to steal from a rich man, but to do so to feed a poor child might be morally good.

To defend a murderer and get him off in a court of law would be ethically right, but morally wrong.

A first suggestion, thoughts?

Most philosophers use the terms interchangeably in most instances because the goal of ethics, i.e. determining the right thing to do, is usually equivalent to determining the good thing to do.

If you view ethics as a set of rigid rules determining right or wrong then maybe this gets us somewhere, but most non-deontologists wouldn't follow this perspective because the idea of "right" and "wrong" is content-neutral. In order for right and wrong to be applicable to the real world, the "right" action needs to be connected to some particular value that we want to fulfill. For example we could be trying to maximize happiness, or more generally some concept of utility.

One way to see this is to ask, what does it even mean to say that it is "wrong" to steal from a rich man? All it means is that some particular set of ethical rules says it is wrong. The interesting question, the one moral philosophers actually work on, is why is it wrong? What goal are the rules trying to achieve? (And of course context does matter in determining that.) In most cases, the rules are trying to achieve a state where people do good things and don't do bad things. So the concepts of ethics and morality are intimately linked, even if you define them the way you have.

Of course, you're right, I was lazy. I should have said that they might often be considered that way. They were intended as preliminary suggestions.

I do not consider ethics to be rigid, but rigid rules often seem like the best introduction to the idea when it comes to people unfamiliar with the idea.

Palestinian terrorists use civilians as human shields and fire rockets from schools and hospitals. The IDF takes more steps than any other military to reduce civilian deaths.

Name one war Israel fought that was offensive. You can't because every single war Israel has been in has been a defensive war.

Israel needs to stop building settlements in the West Bank. Israel either give Palestinians Israeli citizenship and declare the West Bank part of Israel or give the Palestinians their Statehood.

The moderates in Israel want a 2 State solution, but like in America, they get shouted down. There can be no peace, until there's a Palestinian country.

Here are the facts,

Arabs in Israel have more rights than Arabs in any Arab country.
Minorities in Israel have more rights than minorities in any country in the Middle East.
Israel only builds settlements on Israeli lands.
Israel gave up the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights as well as control of Gaza, what were results? The Palestinians elected Hamas.

I love Israel because Israel is the only democratic country in the Middle East, shares the same human rights ideals that civilized countries believe in, and the first line of defense against radical Islamic extremists.

Obummer is the worst president ever elected. Ever. He spies on everyone. He spies on the Germans, he spies on the Israelis and he even spies on his own citizens.

God bless Israel.

Challenge accepted, Moses lead Israelites out of the desert, that land was occupied they murdered all who lived there and took the land, after WWII THERE was no Israel again with help they reoccupied a country that wasn't theirs and continue to do so with help to this day. Odd I didn't see you mention this in your thread when you pointed out how evil America is. YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT WHO HAS NO IDEA ABOUT ANYTHING YOU POST

If you want to go back 5000 years ago, then let's go!

Moses led the Israelites back to the land in which they came from. The Ancient Hebrews left Israel/Palestine for Egypt because of the famine. Then when they returned they found foreigners living on their land.

Palestine was originally Byzantine lands and the Muslims swept out of Arabia to invade/massacre/enslave the Christian people.

But it's not just Palestine that was invaded by Muslims, but also North Africa, Spain, Southern italy, Iran, Central Asia, Afghanistan, India etc....All those lands were previously Christian, Zoroastrian, Hindu, and Buddhist.

Palestine was never a country. It was ruled by the British, who conquered it from the Ottomans, who conquered it from the Turks, who conquered it from the Ayyubids, who conquered it from Crusaders, who conquered it from the Abbasids, who conquered it from the Umayyids, who conquered it from the Byzantines, who conquered it from the Greeks, who conquered it from the Persians, who conquered it from the Babylonians, who conquered it from the Assyrians, who conquered it from the ancient Hebrews.

Israel's founding has the strongest basis on legality. When the state of Israel was founded in 1948, it was done so with the approval of the United Nations, no country country has had this.
