Sikhs being mistakenly hated as Muslims

I have a few friends that are Sikh, and they are the most peaceful happy people to be around. When I lived in Arizona, after 9/11, a Sikh man was shot dead at a gas station by an ignorant racist bigot. Now, after San Bernardino, Sikhs are starting to feel the bigotry again.

Just lately, I went on a business trip to Canada. A couple of co-workers were talking about this Sikh gentleman they saw get out of a pickup and go into a paint store. They said things like,"People like that shouldn't even be here." or "I wonder if that guys getting bomb supplies."

I informed them that that man was not a Muslim and that he was a Sikh (I knew the difference). They still continued to speak bad about the guy, even when his people have absolutely nothing to do with terrorism. The one co-worker was even a vet from Iraq (he must've been the stupidest Iraqi vet to believe that a Sikh was a Muslim). I told him that that Sikh could probably kick his ass (he didn't like me saying that, beings he was a "vet" and all). Sikhs are big into martial arts (they even have their own form of martial arts), and practice at their temples all the time. I wouldn't ever want to get into a fight with a Sikh.
