World monuments lit up with the colors of the Kenyan flag.

Kenya attack: 147 dead in Garissa University assault

At least 147 people, mostly students, have been killed in an assault by al-Shabab militants on a university in north-eastern Kenya.

Heavily armed attackers stormed Garissa University early on Thursday, killing two security guards then firing indiscriminately on students.

Four of the gunman were eventually surrounded in a dormitory, and died when their suicide vests detonated.

It is the deadliest attack yet by al-Shabab.

The militants singled out Christians and shot them, witnesses said.

More than 500 students managed to escape, 79 of whom were injured. A fifth gunman has reportedly been arrested.

Al-Shabab is doing this for quite some time and haven't been stopped by anyone, so this was bound to happen. Maybe now that it's starting to escalate, the UN will give it some attention. This will get worse in no-time if there is no consequence for this action.

And yeah, world monuments won't be carrying the Kenyan flag, we already know that. And that is unfair, or at least inconsistent, indeed. But it's meaningless to start an endless discussion about that. So let's just hope the UN recognizes the trouble Kenya is in and helps them, as France has more means and politial allies to protect itself. France should be helped, Kenya as well. And a lot of other countries as well.

This was in April. Many people have already been sharing it on Facebook as if it's some kind of recent occurrence that's being ignored. Fucktards everywhere.

Even if they do mistakenly think it was recent (which most people sharing it don't), that still tells you something.

147 Kenyan students massacred in their university by militants - third page story, there's soccer on TV, no one cares.
132 Parisians massacred in cafes and a concert by militants - whole world stops turning.

I would strongly disagree. I have seen so many links shared on Facebook that are simply old or just completely untrue.

Third page story where? It was in the news and people were aware of it.

The problem lies in the fact that because incidences in Africa and similar are so "commonplace" people don't pay as much attention. These attacks were a lot closer to home and so obviously people piped up. Those who have suddenly stumbled upon their inner justice weren't paying as much attention when news like the Kenya massacre was aired.
