Get a BJ? Go to jail.

17 y.o. guy got a BJ from a 15 y.o. girl and goes to jail for 10 years. Yeah, it's old news, but still unbelievable. If he would've had sex with her instead, he wouldn't be in jail now. And I thought NC was backwards... GA takes the cake!

Oklahoma laws are even worse...

A tip from an anonymous caller had the swat team bust down a couples door while they were having sex. Since it wasn't missionary position sex, they were charged with lewd and lascivious behavior...

The worst part... The tip was wrong, and the couple had nothing to do with any drug related activities...

wow, that's pretty ridiculous.
Another example of common sense being thrown out the window when the justice system is concerned.

yes, it's an old story but continues to be a big one. ESPN has reported on this one. some very high-profile folks have taken up this guy's cause, i think Mark Cuban was one of them. real tragedy for this guy.

however, i have to throw this in: the issues here are ridiculous and inflexible mandatory sentencing, and race in the case of this defendant. but wicked, you should notice that the crime here is child molestation. are you saying it's backwards to have extremely tough child molestation laws? i'm sure you're not.

but your one-woman crusade against the south continues to embarrass you, imo. in this case you're telling us that rigid and extremely tough child molestation laws are regressive and should be abolished.....

Oh Neph, I know you're just arguing to argue, so I won't rise to the bait. Even someone as dumb as you would have the common sense to see the bigger picture here. Luckily the GA lawmakers have realized the error of their ways and have changed the law so it targets those it was intended to target.

Just goes to show, NEVER bring a camcorder to a party!

aaah, when I read UCA's posts it reminds me of that Mark Twain quote...

“It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.”

You're living art UCA.

Well, the funny thing is is that people do care (obviously). You don't say that after a page of people have already begun talking about it.

Interestingly enough, it is attributed to both men, plus a few more, but it apparently has it's roots in the Bible, so we're both right and wrong. ;-)

It's been attributed to many persons, but seems to have its roots in the Bible:

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt . -- George Eliot
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.-- Abraham Lincoln (also attr. Confucius)
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.-- Mark Twain (1835-1910)
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. -- Bible, 'Proverbs' 17:28.
