It's just a well written sci-fi version of a drama. Every episode there is a tiny little secret revealed that all add up to something important (AKA Lost and Prison Break). There comes a point when you just have to say that you no longer give a damn about a certain symbolic number or a secret superpower.

House is a bit too graphic for me. I don't like those shows with surgery etc.
