Woah! Conspiracy Theory Here!

... Did the United States really send astronauts to the moon in 1969? Or was the Apollo 11 Mission a hoax, during an era of extreme fear (of the USSR) and competition (with same)?

... Fitting for the Funny Farm, I thought... but weird, man,... weird.

all of xtra's points were dissroven. It was called Astronauts gone Wild. Find it in Flame wars I can't be bothered to look for it.

I remember the thread, one person going "it was a conspiracy, it was a conspiracy, you can't prove me wrong no matter what you say and I don't understand what you're saying anyway", everyone else disproving his "arguments" with point-by-point rebuttals.

... the crosshairs were on the camera lense . . . on the lense.
... How is it that equipment there in the shot is covering parts of the crosshairs?

Image

... 2 images photographed, supposedly, at 2 different locations . . . 2 days apart. . . . really?

... man, I'm having fun. I love a good conspiracy theory. 8)

I dont know about the first one, but the second can be explained away fairly easily by the fact that the vast majority of the moon's surface looks exactly the same.

I congratulate you for not bringing up the incredibly obvious arguments like "why are there two light sources?" or "Why cant we see any stars?"

Good job

the main question here is motive, why would America pretend to do such a thing when they had the tech to actually do it?

The thing is, they did. Or at least they tried to. But the ship crash landed, so they had to fake it. It would have been too humiliating to admit the truth. I believe OJ Simpson made a documentary about this, and you all know what they falsely accused Simpson of doing, to discredit him!

What do you mean? The Americans had lost dozens of people in space before, so why did they need to cover up, then fake this one?

dude i think he was joking. savvy?

also
i think once i get my degree in aerospace engineering these guys in black suits will come along and hand me a envelope. contained therein will be instructions on my future part in the conspiracy theory, cos you see there is no space travel whatsoever, their going to pay me to pretend that i make satellite systems and really no such thing exists. Cos thats so much easier than going to the moon.

First, I'll say how I stand on this topic. I do believe it was a conspiracy - believe being the key word in here. I haven't poured over pictures and videos to find stuff that proves one thing or other, but I find it makes sense that it didn't really happen, at least not at that time. If I were shown good enough proof I'd change my mind, not go WELL YOU SUCK NOOB GFY

Now, to the question I quoted. Going into space is very complicated. You may have the technology to do so, but it doesn't mean you can do so safely. The technology for crossing the Atlantic Ocean had existed in Europe for years before said ocean was actually crossed, because just because you have a ship that can go to place X doesn't mean you'll jump ahead and go there.

Now, if you look at the history of space exploration, the Soviets had the lead in everything. They were the first to put an object in space; the first to put a living being in space; the first to put a human being in space. Why did they suddenly fall behind?

The main fact that convinced me this might be a hoax is that, in 1960, the US president (I forgot who it was, I'm not American so screw you) said that he was sure that, by the end of that decade, the US would have set foot in the moon. When did it happen? 1969 - the last year of the decade. Coincidence? Possibly, but not likely.

And, maybe I should have read the other thread, as I'm probably repeating what's been said there, but I like the sound of my own posts.

There's only one piece of 'evidence' that gives me pause.

There is a photo of the lunar lander, where one side is completely covered with shadow. This same photo, however, has a plaque with the words "United States" quite visible despite the lack of light on that side of the lander.

I have yet to hear any debunking or reference to that particular image in any of these "Moon Hoax debunked" specials.

You know, im actually willing to beleive that the moon landing was a hoax, because of the desperation the U.S. had during the space race

so ya, good possibilty that its a hoax

Didnt they plant a flag on the moon? Cant we see that through a telescope and debunk the myth completely?

Must we go through this again?

Did no one read the explanations for all this in thread from a few months ago?

These are actually different allegations, though equally stupid imho.

I just did. Excellent job refuting the conspiracy theories on this one, BG! It was hard making sense of xtratabasco's points between all the LOL's though.

if they did fake it, they're never ever going to admit it, so why bother questioning it
