SNP win, my arse. They only got 1 seat more than Labour, and obviously no overall majority. They might not even be in government. Again.

SNP didn win. You got the largest party, but you didn win. Btw, 1 more seat then Labour? What happened to this so called "rout" that was going to happen. Also, your not going to be able to coalition with anyone, cus Lib Dems and Tories arent going to join you as SNP wants independance bollocks. I still see a Labour/Lib Dem allaince which would be only 3 short of a majority, so imo its going to be a minority parliament...

Depends on what coalition gets formed mate. And as the Lib Dems have declared they have no intention of going along with the SNP whilst they cling to a policy of independence the SNP have either got to abandon everything they stand for (an admirable quality in a governing party, obviously) or they're not gonna get power.

Overall Labour haven't done half as bad as what was expected, the Tories haven't done as well and the Lib Dems have just churned around a little.

As a Labour supporter, could have been better but could have been much worse... General elections have been won on much more shaky bases.

Surely the result deserves a referendum on Independence ?

Why? Even IF all the people who voted SNP wanted independence, that only makes it 47 out of 129 seats...

Labour, Cons and Lib Dems are all specifically anti-independence, so if we discount the 3 independent seats thats 79 in favour of the union...

That's without considering the number of people who simply voted SNP as a protest vote, or as a reaction against issues like Iraq or Trident...

1 of the independants was an ex-SNP, who still supports independance. The other 2 were Scottish Green, I'm not sure where they stand.

I think Labour did pretty well considering what all the opinion polls were saying. Sucks, I didn get to vote, 2 months too young..

I voted. If anyone was watching the BBC coverage, they did some interviews with people in Leeds (where I live) asking whether they'd voted, with most saying 'I didn't even know there was an election'. They actually asked me but apparently 'yep, but I'm not prepared to tell you who for' didn't quite fit the theme of the segment :D The completely clueless posh girl featured at the end also lives next door to me.

I'm famous, see!
