Who's the best American TV dad?

Some of us had good dads, while others had terrible ones. But if you had to choose which American TV dad you would want to be raised by...who would you pick and why? Any list will be incomplete but I did my best to include some good choices. If you voted "other" then post the name & show.

I personally voted for Ward Cleaver...never get tired of that corny 50's style of parenting.

My choice would have been homer Simpson if that was a choice...but I chose Archie, cause he is so much like my father

How rude! I can't see Al Bundy (Married with Children) on the list!

they're talking about actual good fathers..not the dumb obese ones..
Peter Griffin
"you could have a boat...OR THE MYSTERY BOX!"
"Lois, we have to take the box! It could be anything- it could even be a boat!"
Homer Simpson
"LE GRILLE? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"

Al Bundy
"Thank your father."
(sarcastically) "Thanks, dad"
[although he did save the earth from a meterorite or something]

Anyways, Hank Hill from King of the Hill should be up here.

My dad is Cliff Huxtable. They look alike, they talk alike, they act alike, they think alike, they both have lots of kids. And it doesn't even end there.

Seriously.

And I love my dad, so I voted for Cliff Huxtable!

It figures

Yeah Luns! I figured you would vote for Leave it to Beaver seeing as it's from the 1950's.

I voted for Charles Ingalls and I'm ready for all the 19th century jokes.

How many times did I have to endure listening to Melissa Gilbert say "pa!" but after awhile it sort of grew on me.

I bought the first season of "Roseanne" for six quid out of my local Co-Op a couple of weeks ago. It's not as good as I remember it, but I wouldn't mind having John Goodman (that his name?) for a dad. Funny bloke. Shame he never did anything else decent since.

Like I said everyone...any list compiled will be incomplete in some way.

Your responses are very interesting though. It's funny how these TV dads in some way reflect a little bit of our own fathers.

Alan Thicke is the Man!

Jason Seaver was such a pushover. I would have gotten away with everything.
