Inquisition Mafia

So, since there are already too many mafia games running around eating up all the active players, I thought "why not add one more?"

Actually, this isn't really a sign up for a game (although it might become one), it's just a proposal to see if there's enough interest for me to run it. So, without further ado, the proposal :

I'd like to run a somewhat modified mafia game using the Inquisition as a theme. I say modified, since I'm going to slightly tweak some of the roles, and I'm going to tweak the voting guidelines.

The game goes as follows :

"The church has found evidence that there is are heretics in your town, and has sent the Inquisition to root him out. The church has sent an inquisitor into the town, in secret, in order to ferret out information. Furthermore, the church is relying upon the true God-fearing citizens to help with this process by pointing out heretics.

Everyday, each citizen is required to denounce a heretic that is known to them. Failure to denounce a heretic will be seen as treason against the church, and will result in your execution. You may denounce more than one person, if you should know them to be purveyors of heresy. Once a denunciation has been made, it may not be taken back; attempts to retract a denunciation will be considered lying in the eyes of God, and will be dealt with appropriately.

At the end of the day, he who has been denounced by a majority of the populace shall be considered guilty, and judged before God. Should no one achieve a majority, at the end of the day whoever has the most votes will be considered guilty; if two or more citizens have equal votes, they will all be considered guilty and judged."

In order to make the setup I have in mind work, I'll need at least 20 active players. Obviously, deadbeats will be eliminated quickly, but if too many people are inactive the game will die quickly. Hence, this post to see if there's enough interest in the game to bother trying to run it.

I think you should not host this because there are already too many.

Yes, I figured that would be the case. I put the suggestion out just to see if there was any interest.

I was actually thinking about starting a game myself as soon as all the current games ended.

You should rethink that.

This isn't a sign up thread Anark, it's a proposal to see if there is any interest for new mafia games at the moment, and my opinion is that there are too many games going on and people should hold off on starting any new ones.
Don't take everything so seriously...

No... it's a proposal to see if there is any specific interest in this particular idea. Basically, I'm trying to vet whether or not people think this concept will work for a game, since I'm substantially changing the voting rules.

As for when it runs - I will run it as soon as I get more than 20 active people expressing interest. Whenever that may be. It will probably be after this current round of games ends. That said, the idea of "current round of games" is a fiction; at least in the short time I've been here, there has not been a gap between games; there's always been a surfeit.

I hate to sound elitist (being a Rouge and all 8) ) but type of game would have to have some sign-up limitation (like finishing a game and posting regulary in it), because deadbeats would automatically get modkilled for not voting.

Yes, I agree with this. With the voting setup, the game has the potential to die fast unless everyone participates. So, I'd prefer to limit it to only active posters (maybe 1-2 newcomers, but that's it).

That's part of the reason why I wanted to test the interest in this idea. If I can't find about twenty active players, I'll need to either tweak the setup, or cancel the game.
