So, two days ago my precious dog, Steady got hit by a car. He meant the world to me, and he was only three and a half years old. I just thought I'd make a thread for his memory.

It's so weird not having him around.. When I wake up in the morning I'm so sad to see he's not there jumping up and down and wanting me to get up and take him outside... I even refilled his water bowl today out of habit

Hope he's allright, wherever he is now.

Here's a picture of him

If any of you guys have anyone you cared about who passed away, feel free to share their memory in this thread :)

That must be a terrible loss for you. There's nothing I can say that will make things better but I hope you will know better days.

We had to put down my dog about a year ago.

She broke her leg falling down our stairs. And when we took her to the vet to see if there was anything we could do; we found out that see had an infection on one of here eyes that closed it up. She was a Black Toy Poodle with a lot of hair, (Especially on her head) so we didn't notice it until then. I'm kind of over it now but it'll never be the same without her, and I'll always miss her.

Morning all :)

It is sad to learn of your dog passing on :(

I have always had dogs in my life growing up, from my earliest memories. When I was pre-teen, I learned how to hunt wild boars in our forests with a pack of pig dogs and a knife. The dogs were no thoroughbreds - they were mutts and mongrels of mixed breed; but they were fiercely loyal, fearless and committed to their life's work. They kept our family fed through many winters in my youth. Many of them lived to reach a ripe, old age and passed away from natural causes. It hurt no less to lose a respected, cherished and loved member of the family; much as it hurts to lose anyone who contributes to your household in a huge way.

Let's hear it for all dogs who proudly serve their families everywhere!

my dog has yet to die (not that i want it to, of course) but she is one expensive puppy...she's had seven surgeries so far, four on one knee, three on the other...the reason we keep operating is cause she's only 4...we'll probably have to do one more, and then we'll be done, she'll be all fixed...i'm about to lose my horse though...he needs a $33,000 surgery to survive, so we're trying something new that is way less expensive, but we don't know if it will work...

on the human side, a couple of week ago (or was it a month...has it really been that long?) my best friend was killed in Iraq...he's the fifth friend thats died over there...

so, cynthia, i'm sorry for your loss...

...never had any major pets...lots of dead fish...my family's had 3 hamsters that each died...(one climbed to the top of his cage and fell, breaking his back, another died from the cold when we went on vacation and forgot to turn up the heat for him  )

...my friends dog is gonna die soon, and by the amount of times I see that dog per week, I'll care almost as much as they will...I don't know if he's gonna die of depression or arthritis, tho...

Ouch. I too lost a dog about a year or two ago. I also cried like a baby.

But now I gots another one that's about two years old. It's a Bernese Mountain Dog, and it's basically a big marshmallow. Which is nice, because the last dog we had bit my hand, and now I have a permanent gash because of it.

Oh and Cynthia: here's another hug: Image

Man, that stinks. I've never had a dog, but I've had a beloved parrot. He died two days before Christmas of 2005... I've gotten over it, but I still miss him...

I hope you adjust soon. :(

We're currently on our third and fourth dog, so... 2 dead so far. I find one gets over it pretty quickly, no matter how much you liked them when they were around.
