Mafia what?

Just before I turn in I thought I'd open myself up for some good old flaming by getting this whole mafia thing off my chest....

I'm not ashamed to say I don't get it and don't really want to but that the 50% of posts in this forum that involve mafia games are getting in the way of the rest of the crap here I seem to find irresistibly entertaining...

Is it just Mornington Crescent for 21st century or something?

Ah well that says it all really I've obviously managed to detune my vision from the word mafia to such an extent already that I entirely missed that so it really doesn't make a scrap of difference to me anyway. Yet another roaring success for my policy of saving vital cycles by ignoring everything I don't understand...

Dude, I like mafia a lot. But after this topic I actually stepped back and looked at all the topics and found that you are right. The number of mafia games running right now are insane.

I think we're reaching a tipping point... too many games, not enough dedicated players. Hell, some games don't have as many posts in the whole game as yours do by day one or two...

I think one solution would be that, when and if there's a mafia-only forum created, that you or andy or AK or someone else be put in charge of vetting new games and new mods, and that games could be created specifically for vets or newbies or both.

Nah, if you want that, go to mafia scum. The good mods get good players, it's as simple as that. I for one will only do games by IC, Auto or Andy, unless I really need a fix. I like that Andy and IC put restrictions on who can play their games, or do invitation only.

The large number of mafia games is going to stop me for modding another game here. Which is coming soon.

I've been think that it's going to tip over for a while. The rate is insane.

I'm not sure if that would work.

Fair enough, wicked, tho I have zero desire to do anything at mafiascum other than look at their role wiki. I really try to be loyal when it comes to highly addicting time-sucking websites.

I am a bit bummed I didn't play in AK's x-men game, but I just couldn't do that and risk and the endgame for auto's last affair and keep my job and maintain my recently-shabby social life.

Hopefully I get the nod when and if andy runs another game. That finn rock game looked unreal.

I'm thinking in the future of starting some elite level games. Of course I will still run some low level mumbo jumbos every once in a while to get some fresh meat some experience and scout out new talent, but you would not believe the most basic questions I get from some of these players when they play in a game that I mod...

No really, I believe it. I'm playing with some of those players.

I voted yes. You should post more often, Mr Boutros-Gali.

and for the Mafiascum point, I'm already playing around 10 games there, and I have 1 more month until I can mod there.

I find mafiascum games boring. I can't really get into them. Probably b/c the games go so slow there.

I can get into them, but sometimes the slow pace is good. I just don't like it when it goes into discussion that really experienced players know well.

I honestly think that if players dont know the general premise of the game while playing, they shouldn't even attempt to mod one. I have noticed games on this forum where the main poster is often the mod. ](*,)
My advice to you, play a few games first, get some experience under your belt, and then plan a game before posting about it. I'm sure Andy can back me up on this, but a good game takes a fair bit of planning to pull off.

It does take some work.

I do agree that there are a lot of mafia games. It would be easier to navigate if the mafia games had their own forum, but I don't really see it as a problem as it is right now.
