being the great TMNT fan I am, I definately have to go see it... but in the back of my mind, I'm pretty sure it'll suck. Of course, that could just be the memories of the third TMNT movie. That movie sucked. However, I do believe that they can make this movie at least as good as the first TMNT movie (which was better than decent) especially with the fact that it's based on the comic books this time.

At this point, any TMNT movie is definitely guilty until proven innocent (Vanilla Ice, anyone?), but I agree that it looks like it could be cool. I haven't seen the most recent trailer, but I recall watching a teaser sometime last fall, and it sure looked good.

Besides, most of you on this site were but twinkles in your daddy's eye when the original cartoon was on. As someone who was obsessed with the cartoon (and later the eastman/laird comics), I have to confess that I'll probably shell out twelve bucks to see it in theatres...

anyone know the release date off the top of their heads?

Oh, I'll see it alright, there's no question about that. And it will be mostly because when I was a wee boy it was that show and Sonic the Hedgehog adventures which ruled my life. But I know it's going to be horrable.

But you never know. Before watching Street Fighter 2 the animated movie, I was thinking, this will be 2 hours of butchered game history. But in the end I was smiling, so anything can happen.

yeah it was done very well for a non-animated flick. On the enjoyable scale it was a meh. It was pretty accurate to the game. Not that there was much story to the game though.

What about the Final Fantasy movie? (NOT Advent Children) Or does that one not count because it had nothing to do with the game series?

It wasn't consistent with original quest final fantasy. it was enjoyable

It doesn't count because it was god-awful. The only thing FF about it was the title, the voice acting was mediocre, the actual plot was appalling...

and the bad guys were impossible to kill.

Yeah, way to go, Squaresoft.

What's the need for a new one? What's wrong with the old ones?

Yeah, I can see your point about going in with a healthy dose of skepticism, but I think the effects and CGI look pretty cool from the trailer, and I really dig the heavier emphasis on the comics. And, for the record, I was glued to the original cartoon series, and spent countless hours (and quarters) on the original arcade game....damn, was that fun! As for me, there is no question that I will see this in the theater, and I would love it if they made an IMAX version 'cause I'd go see that, too.

I thought the mortal kombat movie was a retarded idea for a movie, but turned out to be not too bad. I think that the X-men movies have been done far better than I expected them to be (and I started with real low expectations). That's not to say that they are ideal, but they're pretty good, I think, and I'm a long-time X-men comics fan (though not a fanatic). They definitely need more Colossus, though.
