UPS just delivered 5 packages for me...3 of them were destroyed, one of them had been repacked because the packaging had fallen apart so much.

You have to love this tracking info...

05/08/2006 7:07 A.M.

THE PACKAGE WAS LEFT IN A UPS FACILITY CAUSING THIS DELAY;FORWARDED TO THE FACILITY IN THE DESTINATION CITY

(by "left in a ups facility" they mean "in the process of being re-packed because we destroyed the box it was in")

05/09/2006
05/09/2006 1:14 A.M. OUT FOR DELIVERY
05/09/2006 2:48 P.M. DELIVERY
6:06 P.M. AFTER THE DELIVERY WAS MADE, THE RECEIVER REPORTED THE PACKAGE WAS DAMAGED;RECEIVER KEPT DAMAGED MERCHANDISE. UPS WILL NOTIFY THE SENDER WITH DETAILS OF THE DAMAGE

Strange...6pm doesnt happen for a few more hours...and that popped up BEFORE I called them to complain...not to mention the package was just left at my doorstep, no knock, no nothing...I didn't choose to keep it, it was left here. And WHY ON EARTH will UPS notify ME of the details of the damage???

I love UPS.

some of the stuff was busted. I think the thing said "indirect signature" but I dont think I required sig.

We'll see, I filed a complaint.

Just call them up

bitch and moan for a while

Tell them you want to file an insurance claim for the damaged items

Most of the time they'll compensate with enough calls...

After they left me up in the air by losing my booth and goods for a trade show I was doing in Vegas (leaving me with a very impressive empty booth), I chose not to use them any longer...my only method of delivery is via carrier (of my product I manufacture) so I ship a LOT...

UPS blows.....

My brother shipped an $8,000 guitar from Maryland to Seattle, and when he got it back it was obivous that whoever had been handling the package paid the Fragile stickers utter disregard and had dropped the package... hard. Upon discovering that his beloved instrument (that he needed to continue his schooling in Maryland) was completely destroyed, he filed a report with UPS...

Long story short, if we hadn't already known the guys who worked at the UPS Store, we may never have gotten the insurance money back... UPS is the devil. Having worked for 2 years at FedEx, I can tell you that Blue will handle your packages with a bit more respect than Brown, and if you have issues they are infinitely easier to deal with.

Hope you get it sorted.

yes UPS can suck sometimes but just DHL has to be the absolute worst. talk about lazy. they only make one delivery attempt and if the receiver is not there then the package automatically gets sent back to the sender. i once saw our local DHL driver parked on the street chillin in his van eating mcdonald's and smokin cigs for 2 consecutive hours. you get what you pay for i guess. $ dhl < ups < fedex $$$

... This sucks.

... I need to send my computer back to the states, and every service I've found here connects to UPS once stateside.

... Cause for concern.

Well, if it was sent on a plane, you must understand that to a loader on the ramp the word "fragile" means "Use me as a soccer ball."

I have an uncle who works as a luggage loader, and you would cry at some of the shit they've done to "fragile" stuff.

Maybe its more of a problem in the US, but Ive never had trouble with either UPS or DHL. The most trouble I've had is with parcelforce, the bastards. 2 items, shipped at the same time, from the same place (germany), DHL delivers 1 item 3 days later. Parcelforce delivers item number 2, 2 weeks after, and the package with several holes in it. It was also not handled well when taken out of the van....

Guess which one i'll be using most....
