A recent talk with my cousin has given me the desire to ask all of u if u think that the U.S is ready for a president that isnt a white male. With the upcoming election in a few years, do u really think that hilary clinton, barack'obahman (sry for horrible spelling) or opra have a shot to lead our nation? Would any of these people do a good job? Lets here some feedback on this!!!

As long as they're white males on the inside- they'll do just fine.

no.
Do I want the US to be ready for that? Yes.
Right now, there are a lot of ignorant, discriminatory people who are more politically aware/active who wouldn't be otherwise, due to the Iraq war. The sentiment of 'patriotism' has become tied to 'beat up everyone who isn't us-ism'. People may think this is crass, but look around the internet and listen in on some political conversations and I'm sure you'll here some sort of derogatory reference along the lines of "beat up them damn a-rabs"
Since the Iraq war is such an important and such a charged issue, half the country has become more accepting of that kind of attitude in order to gather more votes, so that kind of mindset has also proliferated. That mindset promotes discrimination in general.
Furthermore, specifically addressing Clinton and Obama, Clinton is a HUGE polarizer. People will vote or not vote for her simply because she is Hilary Clinton. Meanwhile, a lot of people don't consider Obama to be really black, because he's only half-black... furthermore, his middle name is Hussein, which will cause a lot of people not to vote for him.
:/ I think the best that liberals can hope for is a moderate republican, because I don't see Clinton or Obama (the major democratic names thusfar) winning in 08.

Hillary? Hell no, too many democrates just hate her, not to meantion rebuplicans...
Obama? He would be a great pres and would get elected, if the main issue facing US was domestic.... Unfortunately foreign policy is the biggy I would say, something he lacks experiance with. Thats why I say he would be elected, not a race issue, a policy one.

What difference does it make? You've already seen that the popular vote doesn't count for shit. The powers that be will determine who is president, and it will be business as usual. Maybe this time they'll stick someone like Hillary in, just to make you think it's interesting.

what about john edwards? he has experience, is moderate, and is from the south. many republicans like him and would choose him over obama and hillary.

... Idiocy is running rampant, sadly, across the United States.
... Polls were taken just last month, asking 100,000 women in NY, Chicago, Atlanta and LA if they would vote for Hillary. Remarkably, 68% said yes (and there were a lot of republicans in that poll, I imagine). Their reason, "Because she'd be the first woman President".
... Foreign policy? The economy? The war? The southern border and immigration question? .... who cares?! She's a woman! It'd be cool!
... I blame public schools.

The ignorant people who won't vote for someone because they are black/woman are equally voided by the ignorant people who will vote for someone just because they are black/woman.
That leaves the rest of the ignorant masses to base their decision on something equally trivial.
