Hail Satan!

o/

But more to the point, what are the general views on Satanism around here? Criticisms, praises? Issues with the basis of Satanism?

It's a bit of a hot topic recently where I am from, so I was wondering the views of the Individuals who habit this forum, as you all seem to be from a pretty wide make up of backgrounds and influences.

Satanism, as in LaVey/Egan Satanism, is simply a rejection of things like guilt and fear. The concept of redressing the balance when you are wronged ("If someone strikes you on your cheek, smash him on his.") and the concepts of the Satanic "sins" ("It's a shame stupidity isn't painful").

I like the whole thing, only being familiar with the philosophies and history and not so much the actual text of The Satanic Bible. I've adapted fragments of the 'religion' into my personal belief structure.

Believing in a devil is just as silly and superstitious as believing in gods & leprechauns.

Haven't the foggiest idea what it involves, but I was glad when the Royal Navy saw fit to recognise one man's religious conscience, as below:

Satanism isn't believing in the devil or a mythical deity, it's the worship of the self. Despite the name, the "religion" (if it can be called that, as it denies all supernatural concepts as being valid) does not worship Satan, or any of his likenesses (Loki, Baal, Luficer, etc.).

Its an interesting point of view, i havent studied it well enough to give you a true judgement but from what i do know, its really different.

It's not a case of narcissism or vanity, it's the acknowledging that there are as many gods as there are people. The rejection of any higher force other than yourself.

It's was simply a knee jerk reaction to christainity (hence the use of 'satan') in which people live for themselves and no one else. It doesn't involve worshipping Satan

It's not a knee jerk reaction to Christianity. Satan comes from the hebrew word shaitan which means "he who opposes" or "the rebel.

I am all for rejction of idea that there is an authority to wich you should be obediant, but it seems to me that the rules of satanism reject any self-improvement. My personal belifes (wich include elemnts taoism, budhism, shamanism and esoteric) basicly come down to answering only to myslef. But when I judge my actions I judge the with no mercy or indulgence towards my weeknesses. When I see or feel that what I am doing is wrong (that it makes me feel bad or that it produces bad results) then I make all effort to stop doing that. My basic belief is that I am the one responsible for EVERYTHING that happens in my life, wich leaves no room for complaining about and/or excusing my mistakes (except for the purpose of making jokes :D ).

Doesn't it mean "The Accuser"? I am not saying you wrong, since I don't know hebrew, but that is the translation I heard.
