I am a KC Royals, and Chiefs fan, but being 30, I can't really remember those teams doing shit. There was the 2003 Royals who led the division the first five months, and 7 1/2 games at the all star break, but Minnesota made up 14 games on them in Aug, and September and won the divison by 7 games, so that sucked for me. There was the 95, and 97 Chiefs with homefield advantage through out the playoffs. Got eliminated in the first round both times, so that sucked. No, for me, I have to go outside the KC area. My favorite moment. The Boston, Red Sox being down 3-0 against the mighty New York, Yankees, and coming back to win four straight, including the decisive game 7 at Yankee Stadium, when Damon hit that Grand Slam. That felt so sweet. First time EVER a team comes back from a 3-0 hole, and it's Boston doing it against their arch rivals, to vault them to the American league pennant, and eventual World Championship

Hmm... there are a few, Cathy Freeman winning Australia's 100th gold in the Sydney Olympics, Australia beating Uruguay to get to the world cup finals and Australia thrashing England in the Ashes this year.

Australia was fenomenal against Urugvay. I really hated that they got the same group as Croatia in the WC.

My favorite moments: Croatia beating Germany 3-0 WC 1998.

Manchester United winning the Champions League against Bayern. They were loosing 1-0 all game long, and then scored two goals after 90th minute.

Liverpool coming from from loosing 3-0 in half time, to beating Milan via penalties in the 2005 Champions League final.

The way Greece took 2004 European Championship. The best display of teamwork I ever saw.

Zidane headbutting Materazzi. "Ok, so my career is ending in a few minutes, anybody can take a penalty as well as I can and I WAITED FOR THIS FOR SOOOOO LONG. COME HERE!!!"

Goran Ivanisevic winning in Wimbledon (and being probably the only Wimbledon Champion who ever cussed AND kicked the net in before the eyes of the Queen  ).

Cro Cop Filipovic winning the Pride Grand Prix last year.

1999.

Manchester United were going for a historic and unique treble of victories: their domestic league, domestic (FA) cup and footballs ultimate prize, the European Champions League.

In the semi final of the FA cup, playing against their arch rivals, and last seasons league champions, Arsenal.

United take the lead in the first half and look the better team, but seconds after the restart United's inspirational captain, Roy Keane, is sent off, and Arsenal take control. With 20 minutes to go, Arsenal equalise, and United, a man down, are pushed further and further back desperately holding on for extra time.

In the very last minute of normal time, Arsenal drive forwards once again, and United, horrorstricken, finally break under the pressure, Phil Neville fouling Ray Parlour in the box to concede a penalty kick. Arsenal's Dutch forward genius, Dennis Berkgamp, stepped up to win the match and shatter United's treble dreams with the last kick of the game.

Except United's keeper, the legendary Peter Schmeichel, BRILLIANTLY saved it.

So, extra time, and Arsenal are dominant, United's 10 players exhausted from chasing the ball.. it was just a matter of time before Arsenal scored. But then, Ryan Giggs, United's brilliant left wing, did this:

(Edit: You can see it better here, but I love the commentary on the first clip :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahud9QN4DNY&mode=related&search=

Amazing moment. The only thing that could maybe, MAYBE top it, is what happened in the Champions League Final the same season... but that's another story :)

a few...
The Detroit Red Wings winning the Stanely Cup 1997 after a 42 year drought... and then winning again in '98 and '02.

The University of Michigan winning a national championship in football in '97, that whole season was special.

The Detroit Tigers defeating the New York Yankees in the playoffs in '06. The way the team stormed the field after the final game, spraying the crowd with champagne, celebrating with fans, I'll remember that for a long time.

First, was the Red Sox 2004 ALCS and WS......

next, the Fluke at Duke, where Indiana beat them in the Elite Eight and went on to the Championship in Men's Basketball in 2002 (i think it was 2002)

another one was when Kevin Dyson was 1 yard from winning the Super Bowl, in 2001, or 2002.....(i know it was Rams and Titans)

this is all my favorites that i actually got to watch the game, usually i just see the highlights, for important games....im not very lucky

PS another one is the Mariners' 116 win season that was ended by the worst closer ever

Snow covered field in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day. Dolphins try for the game winning field goal but its blocked. Leon Lett trying to recover the blocked football kicks it into the endzone where the Dolphins recover it for the TD and the win!

In 2004, last game of the regualr season. Vikings vs. the worst team in the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals. All that the Vikings had to do was beat these bottom feeders to win the division and make the playoffs. And all the Packers had to do was win their last 6 games, and still have certain events to occur in order to win the division, thus bumping the Vikings out of the playoffs.

The score is 6 to 17 with 1:54 on the clock. The cardinals manage a touchdown and close the gap to 12-17. Then proceed to recover an onside kick. Then they somehow drive down the field, but time is against them. As time is expiring, and 25 yards out of the endzone, Josh McCown tosses up a pass in the corner of the endzone to Nate Poole. Nate comes down with it and one manages one foot down.

There is no time on the clock with the score being 18-17, Vikings are sent back to Minnesota, while the Packers win the division and head to the playoffs.

BTW anybody here remembers "The Final befor the Final" of the WC 1994, the quarter-final match between Netherlands and Brasil? Brasil took the 2-0 lead via Romario & Bebeto, the Duch equalised and then Branco scored from a 35-meter free kick. Great game! =D> (though I was supporting the Duch, who were, back then, playing football rather then send-the-opponent-to-hospital  )

1994, Oregon vs. Washington college football. These schools have been bitter rivals since Oregon tried to get Washington kicked out of the West Coast Conference in the 1950s, causing the conference to be dissolved. They are tied for the Pac-10 lead, so whoever wins this game has an inside track to the rose bowl. After the Huskies, (Washington) score to make it 20-17, the Ducks (Oregon) Punt returner slips and falls down on the 2 yard line. The Duck's QB Danny O'Neil leads them on 98 yard drive, ending in a Touchdown with 2:34 on the clock to make it 24-20. The Huskies then mount a drive and end up on the Oregon 9 with about a 1:30 seconds. What happened next, in the words of Oregon announcer Jerry Allen

"Huard back to throw the ball. Looking for the corner...INTERCEPTED! THE DUCKS HAVE THE BALL! 35, 40, KENNY WHEATONS GONNA SCORE, KENNY WHEATONS GONNA SCORE!, 20, the 10, TOUCHDOWN! KENNY WHEATON! THE MOST IMPROBABLE FINISH TO A FOOTBALL GAME!!!!!!!!!

Final Score: Oregon 31, Washington 20. Oregon went on to win its first Pac-10 title in 35 years, and play Penn State in the Rose Bowl

absolutly agree with that... Did you see the Greece Prime Minister?? Wow, he was crying like a baby...

I agree with the 1999 UEFA Champions League Manchester-Bayern Munich

also Michael Jordan´s most famous shot, 3 seconds away from the end of the game against Utah I think, and he take a 3 point shot and gives Bulls a championship.

Zinedine Zidane´s victory goal in 2002 UEFA Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen...

there is a few (the ones that i was actually there) man city beating man utd 5-1 we scored early on and there were some united fans in the city end and it kick off big time. they were escorted down to the utd end. then it was 2-0, then 3-0, then 3-1 mark hughes with a bycicle kick into the top corner, i thought fucking hell there coming back, this was only in the first half. then in the second half it was 4-0. then the best goal was saved to the last a few good passes amongst the city players a run down the wing a brilliant cross and a brilliant header by andy hinchcliffe. 5-1 amazing.

then glasgow rangers beating celtic 5-1, was just as good if not better. the rangers game that sticks in my mind the nost was 2-2 rangers had 2 players sent off chris woods the goalie (graham roberts an outfield player went in net) and terry butcher (btw all 3 are english). celtic had 1 player sent off. celtic were leading 2-0 with 10 minutes to go and then rangers scored 2-1. three minutes into injury time rangers equalised. me my brother and my mate that come up from england went beserk jumping on the perimeter fence with the police telling us to get down. fantastic

the most emotional was liverpool winning the champions league. it was the day my grandma died and i was pretty pissed off (she was 97), and seeing liverpool beat milan on penalties helped a bit (that and a lot of booze).

I don´t remember much of this game... I just know it was one of the greatest: The UEFA Cup final between Liverpool and Celtic I think, they ended 5-4 Liverpool, but they were losing 3-2 with 20 minutes remaining... Like I said, I don´t remember much so if I´m wrong please correct me.

the redsox 2003 postseason comeback. it was an amazing time to live in boston, there has never been anything like it.

Arsenal's undefeated season, what a year.

The patriots first superbowl season. After Bledsoe went down i thought the season was over. The superbowl that year was the best i have ever seen.
