No party up for there for me I'm afraid. I've been reduced to voting against people.

I like to call myself a Conservative Democrat. My feelings are more conservative (not conservative like Bush is, which he's not) but they're also more in tune with the Democratic Party than the Republican.
Basically, I like to think. So sue me.

Hmmmm... so your conservative ideology is pro-choice, pro-gay, and pro-high tax?

To put it bluntly, I'm pro-gay, pro-choice, and pro-money. I think gays should marry, but I also hate unions and would like less government influence in business.
Also, Greenpeace can bite me. And PETA and the ACLU.

Actually, in the US the 1st Amendment makes sure that weirdos have the right to scream their rants in the streets.
In fact, it guarantees your desire to post your opinions within certain guidelines.
I have no love for the ACLU in general...but I also have no love for people that lean so far any direction, be it liberal or conservative. I respect people that can listen to others and respect their beliefs whether or not they agree with them.

My favorite bit on this subject was from a comedian on HBO -
"Of course gays should be allowed to get married! They should be as miserable as the rest of us!"

Perhaps. I have been accused of worse before.

The ACLU is a perfect example of what a lot of the left has been known to do, especially lately (oh hell, the right does it too). Take a really good idea, formulate it into an organization, and then make a mad dash to hell with a little pink handbasket. Take the NRA as an example. Their goal as of the 30s has been to protect our Second Amendment rights. And yet, there is something so terribly wrong about them.
Although, truth be told, if you had to go to hell, it might as well be with a pink handbasket. I mean, come on, that's baller status.

I disagree with the British party alignments in the poll. In particular, the Lib Dems definitely ain't full left - it's debatable whether that small bunch of opportunists are even to the left of Labour.
Just my tuppence.

I'm no expert on American politics, but why should the ACLU be identified as a left-wing organisation? They have defended fascists in the past, have they not? "Liberty" is a similar organisation in the UK, but they refuse to support the freedom of speech of far-rightists in Britain, yet they are not accused of being politically-aligned.

Why does no one ever have "No Party" as an option in these polls?
I am officially registered as No Party Affiliation, and I'm damn proud of it.
And why would any patriotic American oppose an organization that's dedicated to the protection of the Constitution?

I disagree, they were somewhat founded by former KKK members as they passed laws to disband the KKK the year it was founded.. and so they felt they NEEDED to take up arms to protect themselves from blackie.

AMEN to that. I also have no party. Parties are for lemmings who need someone to tell them what to think/vote. Just vote all red/blue/green and you dont have to actualy THINK.

You mean the same people who want to merge church & state with prayer in schools and commandments at courthouses?
Gee I have no idea.
