Whatever floats your boat... All I got to say about the Beatles is boring, boring.....

Have you ever really listened to the Beatles, beyond the 5 songs that are on every movie soundtrack? What's the least boring of their albums, in your opinion? The most boring?

We need to clear something up. For starters this thread is top ten bands NOT top ten Rock bands, so pop bands are cool.
More importantly, yes the Beatles are overrated, in the same way that water is overrated-nope, water cant cure cancer but its still the best thing ever to happen to the human race.
My point: the Beatles have been so hyped so much that inevitably a few of their tracks dont stand up to modern day scrutiny.
But they are certainly the most important band of all time (cultural impact, impact on songwriters, EVERY other band that has recorded) and they HAVE to be included in any sane persons top ten.
Which is why I wish I hadnt forgotten to put them in my list

Calling me crazy then? My tastes lay in other genres, thank you very much.

What?!?

Muse surely can't be on a list if Radiohead isn't.

I have too many, so I separated them into upper and lower tiers:
First tier:
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
The Beatles
The Doors
Radiohead
Pearl Jam (they were voted best American band ever on some site, I forgot where...)
U2

Second tier:
Architecture In Helsinki (little known and hard to get used to, but great)
Depeche Mode (if you write them off as emo you're just biased)
Metallica
Nine Inch Nails
The Pixies
The Police
Queen
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Smashing Pumpkins (only those few good albums in the 90s though)
The Smiths

Beatles have 4 albums in the Rolling Stones Magazine top 10.

No one has ever had as much impact on music as them. Sure their music isn't much compared to today's standard but you must compare everything relative to their own time. They didn't have the technology we have now.

You're trying to compare The Ford Model T, the first mass produce car with a Porsche 911. Of course the Porsche can beat the Model T in all aspects, but the Model T had a much greater impact on society than the Porsche did when it came out.

See what I'm getting at?

Almost every existing band has been influenced in one way or another by the Beatles.

RHCP doesn't belong on this list.

EDIT: doesn't belong on Snorri's list of lousy pop bands.

I'd like to proffer up a new one, great not for their influence but for their incredible genius, daring, and grandeur: The Magnetic Fields.

That's one person's opinion. But if it's on the radio and lots of people are listening to it, it must mean that those bands are doing something right.

If it's on the radio it means they had the right managers and sucked the right cock. People listen to it because it is on the radio, not because it is any good

EDIT:
And yes, if you like those bands, then fair enough, but i still think they're shit (which is my opinion)
