Not trying to sound snarky here, but do you even read my posts at all (look at the only link in the entire post)? I truly want to know.

the majority of them being rubberneckers, i'd guess.

I don't know if degaston is going to reply. Maybe he will, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't bother. You may think you're being awfully clever by demanding citations of things that are basic common knowledge, but all you are doing is preventing meaningful debate. For the record, I spent two hours and eleven minutes coming up for citations to answer your questions, almost all of which I suspect you knew the answer to before you asked. It just so happens that I had two hours and eleven minutes that I wasn't planning to use productively (probably would have played some pointless video game if I hadn't been writing) so it wasn't much of a loss. But in most cases and for most people, that would have simply been the end of any two-way communication whatsoever. When you demand proof of such basic things (Trump's lies and swindles are well enough documented to be in "the sky is blue" or "the earth is round" territory) you are basically saying that the person you are speaking to has nothing better to do. It's not just insulting, but a real roadblock to communication.

Dukasaur wrote:I'll grant you that one, simply because of the word "unimaginable". It's pretty difficult to define what is imaginable. But can you name any national-level politician in the history of the United States who has ever been so vulgar and offensive and outright rude to others?
Dukasaur wrote:The most famous incident, of course, is his mocking of Serge F. Kovaleski. Most people are impressed that someone has overcome arthrogryposis and gone on to become a respected newsman, winner of a Pulitzer Prize and a George Polk award. For Trump, it's just a way to score a vulgar jab.

Dukasaur wrote:This is a difficult one. A great many alt-right characters have supported Donald Trump. Don Black, David Riden, William Johnson, Richard Spencer, Ilana Mercer, and about a dozen others have endorsed Trump. It's difficult to prove that he welcomes the endorsements, since he doesn't make it explicit. He has not, however, criticized or repudiated any of these extremists, even the ones who have spoken at his rallies and worked for his campaign. Johnson was scheduled to be a Trumpist delegate at the 2016 RNC. After the media shone a spotlight on his extremist views, the Trump campaign tried to claim that he was included on the delegates' list through a clerical error. Leaked correspondance, however, shows that he was welcomed by Team Trump, and would no doubt have gone off to the RNC to spread his white power message if the media had not exposed him. The most telling bit of evidence, however, is the "Trump Effect", the massive surge in hate crimes following Trump's rise to power.
Dukasaur wrote:In 2018, when refusing to go to the Aisne-Marne cemetary, Trump is reported to have said "Why should I go to a cemetary? It's full of losers." When the story was first published in the Atlantic, Trump was swift to deny it, but the story has since been verified by three other major news outlets.
Dukasaur wrote:If it's opinion, it's the most exhaustively-documented opinion of all time. This list shows that Trump passed the 20,000 mark in July. I've heard that he passed the 25,000 mark recently, although I can't find a citation for it. Basically a lie every waking hour since he became president. And yes, of course many on the list are duplicates. Some are lies that he's repeated hundreds of times. Others only a few. Even accounting for duplicates, it's a staggering body of dishonesty.
Dukasaur wrote:Um, thousands upon thousands of people? The one I find most personally offensive is the Trump "University" scam. In this classic bait-and-switch scam, people were persuaded to buy seminars in which they expected to learn about real estate. Instead of being taught anything, they were then told they had to buy a more expensive package before they would learn anything. The whole point of each seminar was to up-sell them to the next seminar, and so on, until they ran out of money. At no point were they taught anything about real estate. We're not talking a few hundred dollars, but tens of thousands. I don't so much mind Trump's real estate scams, in which he was mainly ripping off other businessmen who ought to have known better than to deal with him. But in the Trump University scam, he was ripping off working class people, desperate to improve their lives. By way of citation, I could use any of the hundreds of published descriptions, but instead here's the sworn affidavit of one of the Trump "University" salesmen.

Dukasaur wrote:Yeah, in fact I did read your post. And yes, I clicked on the link and saw that you dredged up some nobody in some Democratic campaign who wished death on Trump. Yeah, it's not unheard of, but it is rare. Considering how much harm Trump has done in the world, it's probably more surprising how few people wish him dead than how many. Still, it's uncommon. On the other hand, the phenomenon of right-wingers wishing death on someone is a constant background roar. Not a day goes by that I don't see some Trumpist somewhere posting "I hope someone puts a bullet through that bitch Pelosi" or some such thing. This person "oughtta be shot" and that person "oughtta be shot" and so on and so forth. In fact, if I had to bet on the phrase most often uttered by Trumpists in day-to-day speech, I would put my money on "oughtta be shot" as the clear winner.
