Yeah, if you don't like having your fries made out of beef then go back to California.

You're joking, but in fact it is the truth.
Obviously fries aren't made out of beef, but traditionally they were fried in beef tallow (lard). In 2007, MacDonald's switched to a vegetarian blend of vegetable oil, canola oil, and soybean oil, but then the customers complained that the new fries didn't taste as good. MacDonalds' solved the problem by adding beef extract to the soybean oil to make their vegetarian oil taste more like beef. The "beef extract" isn't actually made from beef, it's made from chemically-modified milk, but it's still an animal product, so still not acceptable to strict vegetarians. (The fact that the chemically-modified milk is labelled "natural beef extract" is pretty funny in itself, but that's labeling for ya!)

Although really, the level of cruelty can be just as high.
In egg production, particularly. It's not like when we were kids and you had to go prowling all over the hay loft to see where the chickens hid their eggs. Nowadays, to prevent egg loss, the chickens are kept in tiny cages with no natural light or stimulus. They go mad from confinement, so they have their beaks shortened so that they don't peck each other to death in their maddened state. Really, chickens that are raised for meat are better off. Their short life ends with a quick death. Egg-laying chickens can spend years in this nightmare state of imprisonment.
In dairy farming, things can sometimes be just as bad. Some dairy farmers go with a free-range option, but many use a permanent-enclosure method like the egg farmers. And in the end, when the milk production drops, the cow is usually killed anyway. Only a tiny minority of farmers, usually hobby farmers not in commercial production, believe in putting the animal out on the range to enjoy its retirement.
So while it may be technically true that no life is taken in milk and egg production, it still usually leads to horrible lives for the animals. Unless you're spending the big bucks for free-range eggs and free-range milk, you're still contributing to cruelty.

He's ok with chicken in cages, and with Central American children in cages as well.... just don't kill either one and he's fine with it (especially chickens though)

The OP says "image".
There's a lot more to image than looks.

Contemporary voters are exposed to political candidates in a wide variety of ways. Some meet them in person at political rallies. Others read articles and view photographs and media footage of candidates on television as well as online, produced of a variety of news sources. One component all of these methods have in common, however, is the visual. Research shows that voters form an opinion (accurate or not) about a candidate´s competence, character, and qualifications to be President, just by looking.
