Dammit. You're right.

One thing Obama did accomplish is setting this precedent

You might need to jump eight years. I hear Chelsea Clinton is going to run for Mayor of NYC next year. That's a four year term. Gillibrand's Senate seat opens up a year later in 2018 with the other seat opening up in 2022. She could take the position for 1 term, switch to the senate in 2022 just in time to run for the 2024 election in eight years.
Not that I am saying she is different because at this point ... NO ONE IS.
--------NO TRUMP IS PRETTY DIFFERENT....WHY DOES CHELSEA HAVE TO BE A TYPICAL WASHINGTON INSIDER?....WHY CAN'T SHE BUILD A BILLION DOLLAR EMPIRE?....OH! WAIT ONLY TRUMP CAN.So I guess someone can be different...That's what people did long ago. Serve one or two terms without being force to a limit. They went back to their lives as farmers etc.etc....On their own...THEN CAME THE CAREER POLITICIANS.

The conservative National Review pointed out that Trump has a history of avoiding the free market and instead getting in bed with the state. Last year, they wrote that “Trump became ‘partners’ with the City of New York to build a hotel in the 1970s — a deal that involved a 40-year property-tax abatement that saved him ‘tens of millions of dollars.'” A “tax abatement” may seem harmless, but it’s really no different than a government subsidy. When people refer to sports teams as “welfare queens,” it’s partly because the owners receive such large tax abatements. Trump’s case is no different.
In the 1990s, Trump asked Connecticut’s government to use their power to condemn five Bridgeport businesses so that he may use the land to build “a $350 million combined amusement park, shipping terminal and seaport village and office complex on the east side of the harbor.”
Around the same time, Trump tried to buy an Atlantic City woman out of her home so that he may build a parking lot and waiting area for his hotel’s limousines. The widow refused to sell her property, so Trump spent years under the guise of “eminent domain” trying to get the government to pry the woman’s land for his private use.
One final example: Trump fought tooth-and-nail to prevent a casino from being built in upstate New York. He rightfully feared the competition it would provide to his casinos in New Jersey, and so he spent a decade in court fighting the construction, claiming that gambling would be terrible for New York (but magically, somehow not bad for Atlantic City?). When the NY casino plan was finally green-lit, Trump conceded that “at some point, there is going to be competition.” No, really?

Someone resurrected this quote, so I think I need to respond. I'm not a Trump supporter. Trump's successes are significantly based on a lot of special favors he had gotten from many levels of government. Those same levels of government managed to allow him to hide his many failures. I remember going into "Trump Tower" when all of the stores were trying to find the exit clauses on their leases and most of the office / apartment space was empty. Here is a repeat of an old 2012 article on TrumpThe conservative National Review pointed out that Trump has a history of avoiding the free market and instead getting in bed with the state. Egress, not Egret. Google it up sometime. It relates to P.T. Barnum's museum and how he couldn't get more people in because no one wanted to leave the museum.
Van Horne: You haven't seen any snowy egrets, have you?
Alexandra: Not that I know of.
VH: Me, either. I'm trying to put a tennis court in and this woman sent me this letter, telling me I can't fill in the wetlands because the snowy
egrets like to nest there.
A: That's what they say.
VH: Well, I haven't seen any. Of course, I probably wouldn't know a snowy egret if I was pissing on one. Would you like to have lunch?
A: It's a bit late in the season.
VH: For lunch?
A: For pissing on birds.

Yes, I do know what egress is. Not completely illiterate, although perhaps I am in my time of dotage. I even know what 'exeunt' means.
I was making a joke, based on the homonymic similarity between egress and egrets.
One of my favourite scenes from the Witches of Eastwick:Van Horne: You haven't seen any snowy egrets, have you?

<sigh> It's not funny if you have to explain it.

Because he is a racist bigoted scam artist, silly. Good thing P.T. Barnum never ran for President.
Yes I am saying these guys are being scammed. How did you think Obama got into office ... twice.
On the other hand, who needs a wall when you can make large signs "This way to the Egress" in Spanish?
