Wha..? You do understand that THIS topic is a classic religious delusion. All religious groups claim to be the most oppressed and picked on.

As a rule, the ones who complain the least about getting picked on are the ones that are, in reality, picked on the most.

That being why I didn't start this thread, as whining about being picked on rarely helps unless you're NOT actually being picked on. ;)

Christians are ridiculed because they should be. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, Christians gotta be mocked.

Found what I lost inside, my spirit has been purified.
Take a thorn from my pride, and hand in hand we'll take a walk outside. Thank you for the sun, the one that shines on everyone who feels love.

You wonder why we are unconvinced by your arguments?

Try reading your above statement but replacing the word bible with koran ..or any other holy book or Gone with the Wind.....replace the word Jesus with Mohammed or any other prophet or Superman...

This might give you an insight into how absurd your line of argument is

Christians don't necessarily get made fun of. They receive as much shit as anyone else does, but they just bitch about it more.

They get ridiculed here on CC, because a large percentage of people who come here are not Christians. Everyone likes to poke a little fun at someone who's different than them.

No, they get ridiculed because they come on here, trying to convert everyone! And distorting science while they're at it! And trying to spread their twisted ideas of "morality"! If too many of us listened to them, we'd be back in the bloody Dark Ages.

Mirak, jay knows he is 100% right, and you (we) are 100% wrong. I have come to the very real conclusion that you can't argue with the delusional. We ask only for open eyes and common sense and are responded too with scripture quotes, vague, unprovable examples of miracles and "ya just gotta believe" as proof of their argument.

When he says he is "addicted to jesus" (a2j), I truly believe him. Like all addictions, his also is an illness.

Good point. Remember that scandal with Muhamed's caricature? And the lame-ass competition for the "Best Joke charicature about the Holocaust"? Personaly I found it pathetic, not because people shouldn't joke about Holocaust (you can joke about any fucking thing you want, as long as you don't try to deny that same right to other people), but because they chose same lame picture of Hitler and Ana Frank having sex as the funniest. Same here, except when I prayed for knowledge and guidance, I received the knowledge that the Bible isn't God's word. God lives in our hearts, not in some ancient tome.

And before you ask, yes, this was at the end of my spiritually rebellious phase when I was seeking actual information from the Divine. It was shortly after I received this information that I discovered Discordia and then joined the Church of the Subgenius.

I'm a Unitarian from birth, and god damn it I'm proud of it!

Because there's a world of difference between attacking a majority religion (or race, or whatever) and attacking a minority one. Also, it's OK to attack your own religion etc, but more problematic to attack others.

I say whatever I like about Christians, because no-one would interpret my remarks as attacking individual Christians. But to attack Islam and Judaism (both minority religions in the Western world) could easily be interpreted as attacking Muslims and Jews, so you have to be much more careful.

That's not to say I don't think Judaism & Islam aren't both a pile of shite, just like Christianity, but there's no point in making cartoons about Mohammed in Western magazines. Just for whose benefit is that? Christian bigots? Leave that to magazines in the Muslim world.

Let's see that cartoon with Jesus saying "brb" in Jyllands-Posten. Would they print it? Would they f*ck.

That wasn't God you recieved that knowledge from. God lives (or dwels) in the hearts of believers. Accuracy is a good thing.

Oh really? Satan intercepted my prayers and gave me misinformation?

And how do you know he didn't do that to you?

I have faith, maybe you should have some too.

Luke 17:20-22:
Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."
Then he said to his disciples, "The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it."

It's right there, black and white, clear as crystal. "The Kingdom of God is within you."

If it is in me, and it is within you, then surely we do not need pastors, buildings, bishops, or any other authority to tell us about it or how to get to it.

I have faith in God, and I have faith that He gave me this information.

Do you?

EDIT: Oh, that's the NIV in case you were wondering. I could find it in other versions, or you could do it yourself:

Question. How can you have "faith in God" when you deny his word? And how can you quote his word after posting

I received the knowledge that the Bible isn't God's word.
?

To answer the first question first, I don't believe that God lives in a book. God is in my heart, so is Eris, Bob Dobbs, and Asphaltia.

And two answer the second question (Pun intended), if I didn't you wouldn't have even given it a second glance. It's the technically the only way of quoting Jesus, since to quote a movie would gain no points from you.

Now, are you trying to impugn my faith? Are you saying, with different words, "thou fool?"

Because we all know what happens to people who say "thou fool."

He's comparing Jay's methodology of refusing all new interpretations to the olden, dark days of the Catholic church.

And I'm laughing because that must have torqued jay something fierce (even if he denies it). I know how proud in his protestantism he is.

Think what you want. SW made a statement that was totally unfounded. He calls me close-minded for disagreeing with him (pot/kettle thing going on) and then VT laughs hysterically at what? The fact that someone took a jab at jay_a2j. Give me a break.
