That's certainly not my only impetus for pursuing a Ph.D.

The quality and nature of the work and lifestyle is appealing to me.

OK, well I was just going on this:

"Well, the reason I'm going for the PhD is because I'd prefer not to do 8 to 5 for the rest of my life."

Like my opinion counts. But doing a Phd is a good thing, "period".
Pursuit of knowledge and all that.

So just curious, can you get me a green card and job servicing the lights in your building?

Soooooo boooored.

When they actually give me work to do it's fun and exciting and interesting, but for much of the day it's just CC... and pressing refresh on my personal email.

Get me a job there and I'll tutor you in government goofing off. You'll never get bored again.

I could probably get you a job, but you'd have to move to Texas. But it's Austin, Texas, which is actually pretty great.

Now, how can I make doing nothing more entertaining?

No, I've been on several projects where you sometimes do two days work a month if the material gets there.

I made a ring out of a stanless steel nut with some files and a drill. I calculated it and I was paid roughly around eight thousand dollars to make it.

I must admit Meggy may not be teachable, I've seen plenty of guys go nuts and most of them have to quit because they just can't switch to do nothing mode.
