And from my point of view, the problem isnt that the laws are built in order to be abused by some all powerful conspiracy organization but that they allow abuse of that system which could be used.

All those who are worried about chips - are you on Facebook, do you use google? Corporations have been farming your information for money for years. Google, Facebook, Myspace - Web2.0 - it's all built on making money by selling your information to people who want to pay for it so that they can sell you stuff better, convince you of something more easily and generally make more money off of the fact that 22 year old girls from the N.E. US generally have 27 friends in a 60:40 M:F ratio who use their camera phones (broken down my model, features and time of day taken which is embedded in the photo itself) to take pictures. Of those pictures, computer analysis suggests that x% are taken of people, y% are taken of landscapes and z% are taken of cute little fluffy animals. Oh, and employers will google you, look you up on facebook and myspace and will generally not give you a job based on the x% of pictures of people which were taken whilst really drunk doing stupid things

And, DM, the fact that the laws say that you can cross a border easily while other laws say that you cannot does in fact decrease the control a country has over immigration because the only practical way to stop someone from settling in you country is to stop them at the border. Once they are in, they are very very difficult to find (thus the foolish walls being built in Israel and the southern US). So, while the shenanagan laws (or whatever they were called) say that you aren't technically loosing autonomy, you do practically lose it.

thats true, i'm 18 and all i know is that our country has a poor record on immigration by refugees. that said i assumed battered meant drunk though i'm not up with the lingo, thats why i asked. As I said, I don't agree. Maastricht and Shengen are not the autonomy killing, border destroying, monsters that Monsieur Napoleon is attempting to portray them as. For even a foreign national of an EU nation practical settling after crossing the border into a foreign EU state would be extremely difficult, property or automobile purchase is impossible without providing ID, and labour markets closed unless you make yourself known to the tax authorities (unless you were to work on the grey or black market). It would be extremely difficult to do anything other than live off of the charity of friends or relatives while keeping a low profile. The fact is that EU nations do have sophisticated systems for identifying who is in their territory, and equally sophisticated systems for tracking down those who appear to have disappeared (yes yes, cue a boogeyman rant from a resident conspiracy nut). EU free border laws under Schengen don't permit easy migrancy, they only provide for unfettered movement for brief stop-overs within the union. If you attempt to settle then you are not only barred from the national services of the nation to which you have moved, but, after exiting for an unauthorisedly long time, you will be pursued by the authorities (tax etc) of the nation that you are leaving. Add to this the fact that EU nations are left with the power to deport foreign nationals should they attempt to abuse their rights to free short-term border crossing, or if they commit antisocial acts on the host territories soil; and you really haven't diminished any nation's practical autonomy in any significant way at all. You have however increased their citizens personal autonomy a great deal.

You don't understand how RFID tags work. They are very short range devices. If what you say was true, every time I drove by a Mobil station everyone would get free gas from my Speedpass (an RFID device) and everyone in line at the George Washington Bridge would get their tolls paid by my EZ-Pass (also an RFID device). Obviously this isn't happening.
