Still the original Star Wars kicked ass.
No denying that, though the graphics were much better in the last three (even though the originals had a tiny budget), but were oh so lagging in good acting.

Really none of the movies had the greatest acting, it was just so much worse in the new ones.
I know, but at least the originals had decent actors.

Yeah, with the exception of Luke everyone else in that movie was either a known actor or would become a good actor. Harrison Ford-Indiana Jones, the Fugitive; Voice of Darth Vader (whose name escapes me)-Field of Dreams; etc.

James Earl Jones. He was great in Lion King

Thermopylae was pretty impressive, even if just in the massive number of Persians that died. I think I like Cannae more, though :-k

On-topic, I'd probably go with the Khmer Empire, just because no one's said it yet

When approaching this question, I took into account the means that this empire had at the time, the good that they brought to the whole of the empire, and the time that the empire lasted for.

There is no doubt that the Brits has the largest single empire ever known. But this was post-industrial age, we had a massive advantage over the area's that we occupied. Some may also argue that we pillaged some area's, such as india, and only left them with cricket, Some may argue that we nurtured some area's.

The mongols, for their time and technology had a wide and vast empire, there are dfinite fragments, and mongol-mixed ethnicity in the wide area that they controlled, even today. But the empire itself began to collapse after around 90 years.

The romans are my personal favourite.

You've got to put the time into perspective, this began over 2 thousand years ago, and it happened in an area of extremes. The number of large ferocious tribes that they had to conquer, and did so quite effectively (after a few brutal maulings by the germanic people). Not only did they conquer, but they brought with them culture, technology and organisation.

The volataile area's that they conquered, soon began to become 'classicised', and order was brought with them.

In a way, being of germanic descent, I despise the romans interlusion of the germanic people, but they were way ahead of their time, and brought with them many positive aspects.

I use to do history essays all the time, wanted to become an archaeologist for a long long long time. Most my life infact! I was always into fossils and gems/ anything with ancient history... still considering going back to school either for that or something like zoology

I don't think the Celts ever established an actual empire. Though they did spread throughout Western Europe. Alexander the Great did control the city-states, except for Sparta, whom Alexander had signed a treaty with. Alexander was Macedonian, and the Spartans only had a league under them, not an empire.

ya man but t was destroyed by the romans, it was the biggest eveer until rome came along(rome was like twice as big, but that still makes it a big empire)it streached from ireland, of course, all the way to the east to around poland, all of england, and as far south as Rome.

Celts weren't an empire, they were not organized as a single nation. They just go under a single term but each city was really a nation in its own right.

Fav has to be Britain. They were such a perfect utopia / dystopia, much like rome.

Empire means "an extensive group of states under a single authority". Celtic tribes were far from that.

yeah, I believe it focuses on the young Indiana Jones who I think is to be played by Shia LeBeouf(sp?) of all people. Harrison Ford will still be in it but probably as the older version who has given up his life of daredevil escapes because he is getting too old (doesn't mean you won't see some action from him).

Gotta gow thet first one ever... the Assyrian Empire!

You really have to hand it to an empire that, when destroying a city, goes so far as to dig up and dump the ground it was built upon into the river!
