I think that God invented Canada for the very reason to avoid the draft.

Did my time (Army) during the Clinton years and saw no action. I have actually been considering re-enlisting. I dont think I could take the pay cut though.

Thats actually a good question. If I were drafted how do they compensate you? I would have to take at least a 20-30k paycut. How would I pay my bills? Are creditors not allowed to come after you?

If the draft was for Iraq?

I'd actually think about it you know... I don't believe in the war but I do believe we now have a responsibility to create a peaceful, stable and autonomous state. As the invasion has already happened, I'd find it harder to object on moral grounds. Before the war? Hell yeh...

How can we create a peaceful, stable state over there as infidels? One thing that all the various warring factions of Islam agree on, is that we are the "Great Satan". Any muslim who supports what we do over there will be deemed a traitor. If any foreign country conquered America, how many of us would support a government that it installed? Sure there would be some ass kissers who would, but there would always be diehard patriots to kill the those traitors. Look how long it took the U.S. southern states to accept the occupation of the north - it wasn't until WWI that we even started celebrating the 4th of July again down here. The longer we stay over there, the more people will die, and we won't have a damn thing to show for it. "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows".

Except the large war debt.

And I wonder who credited the cash for this war?

if the draft was for iraq, not a chance

but if it was a draft for some other war, similar to WWII or the revolutionary war(im american)

IMO those wars had points, gaining freedom, and helping others gain freedom, and defending allies

As usual, you have a very polarised image if the situation. We help to create a state in which free and fair elections can produce a government which is representative of the people and able to stop the country spiralling into civil war and then we leave.

Saudi Arabia is a deeply orthodox and religious country, tolerant to fundemental Islam and commited to the promotion of Islamic states, yet they deal with and maintain a good relationship with the west. There have been hundreds of oppertunities for Saudi to 'attack' the west, especially in regards to economic dependance, but they continue as a fundementally Islamic country without your whole 'Great Satan' ideology. Pakistan is another example. The British created Pakistan, rightly or wrongly, upon our exit from India. The proto-Pakistani MUslims (generally) didn't fight the British, they fought the Hindus. They co-operated diplomatically, politically and economically in the setting up of an autonomous state.

Have you ever spoken to a Muslim person? To an Iraqi, even?

I have. To several. They were grateful that Saddam was ousted, yet incensed at the way in which America believed it had the right to 'police' the world and wanted the Americans out of Iraq, yet they accepted that the best route to stable independance was co-operation.

Actually i have spoken to quite a few, and i have studied the Koran - not just read. I don't know if any were Iraqis, but being the polarized individual that i am, i don't take the trouble to make distinctions there. They are all a part of a violent, oppressive religion, and while they may kowtow to the U.S. and Britain, they don't like us at all, and will cooperate with us only so long as it suits their purpose.

If they will co-operate with us as long as it suits their purpose that is 100% fine by me. I don't believe we deserve any political or economic influence over Iraq in the future, but we do owe them a stable and governable country. If they co-operate to achieve that then hate our guts thats fine by me. Its more than we deserve.

I would ask, however, what your impression of the vast majority of British Muslims is... Are my Muslim neighbours and compatriots secretly hating me? Plotting my demise? Are they acting as a whole? What I see is a violent extremist fringe of what is, in this country at least, a moderate and peaceful religion. I could study and pick out countless scriptures promoting the same level of violence in the Bible too, yet I would be accused of taking them out of context.

I have too many psychological disorders... I couldn't even enlist.. I may be at the bottom of the barrel if they try to enlist, so I'll just get married or something...

They don't draft Married people, students, or those with kids...

Well, I'm one of those, so I'm all good.

i was referring to the contests...

as it is illegal for me to own the kind of gun my father wants me to have (you have to be at least 18...or is it 21...) it wouldn't matter anyway...but i don't like guns all that much, so i won't be owning one to begin with...well...at least of that kind...
