I remember reading a comparison between the US and China in TIME about all sorts of things. One of the stats that really stuck was that despite having almost 10 times as many cards as China, China had more than four times the number of car crashes.

You can call it racist all you want, and I'm sure there are plenty of fantastic Asian drivers, but how do you justify that sort of statistic? Poor drivers are usually stereotyped as either (or a combination of) old, women or Asians.

Absolutley dire enforcement, less strict driving tests and standards, lack of a general disapproval of drunk / careless driving... I'm afraid people are gonna call you racist (or at least an idiot) if you think people drive a certain way because of their biological race (culture, perhaps, but not race).

Well then it's a good thing I never did that

What I was suggesting was that culture does play a definite role in driving abilities. Anybody who's been to India knows that on the roads life is cheap. Maybe that's because there are so many more people, or maybe because the communities are much poorer. Whatever it is, that culture will obviously pass down through migrants into other countries, even amongst those who didn't actually migrate themselves.

EDIT: I just remembered reading another report (although I'm a lot more foggy about the details because it was longer ago). The report showed that men were naturally more capable of flying airplanes than women because of how their brains operated. It was something about men having a more closed (or open - can't remember lol) visual field which put them at an advantage over their female counterparts. Now again, I'm not saying that there aren't fantastic women pilots but I still thought this was very interesting.
