Hey jay, are you a vet? Funny how someone who is so pro-war would not be in the military. But you're not, are you? You would rather cheer others on from the safety of the sidelines. I joined on my 17th birthday in Aug. 68 - silly me. I went in with your views and i came out feeling like an ass. But you'll never have to come to such a crisis, as you will not put your beliefs on the line. The British would call you a wanker, and in Amerika you're a jerk-off.

ROFL! Wow, another you have to be in the military or you shouldn't talk person. Why am I pro-military? Because my father was in the US Army for 24 years, including a tour in Vietnam. I grew up around the military. I learned to appreciate what these men and women were doing, what they were sacrificing and because of this I learned what patriotism really was. As for myself joining the service, I can't. I have a pin in my knee and also I was diagnosed with MS in 1990 (the year I graduated from high school). Even though I no longer have MS they still will not let me enlist (see other thread for info. on why I no longer have MS). I had contacted a recruiter in the mid-90's and was turned down.

So, before you judge a person you might want to get all the facts. It will help prevent you from sounding like a blathering idiot.

Just because you are pro-military does not mean you have to stand by every thing it does. We don't gain anything from Iraq. If anything, we are less safe because many nations that once supported us are now rethinking their alliances.

Plus, Jay unlike you he wasn't saying you were unpatriotic for not being in the military. Only you put restraints on like that. What he is saying is once he got out to the frontlines he realized something. War was a horrible thing, people dying everywhere its sad. It's not something to be rushed into on a whim. Much like John Kerry and the other's joining vets against the war, and maybe if you'd been in the military you could know his perspective. Then again, you'd probably just call him a flip flopper.

If your father did a tour in Nam, and still believes in idiots like Bush and their moneymaking wars, he is the blathering idiot, and i now understand why you turned out so stupid. I went in all patriotic, but when i saw the horror we had created, and recognized the falsehoods that were perpetuating it, i was devastated. Less than 10% of our troops were in the field in Viet Nam, and the other 90% were "support" units. In my training as a recon specialist, i was taught that it should be about 75% in field units, and 25% in support. WTF?! So why did we have such a cockeyed set up? Hint - a lot of money was made in that war while our young men were butchered. Now the same thing is playing out again, only this time we don't have enough true americans back home raising their voices against the lies. People like Kyle and his friends are looked at with mild amusement because there aren't enough of them this time, and that's what scares me.
