I do believe that there were predictions of such for part of 2025 BEFORE the November Elections in THIS very Forum and that was for EITHER side winning the election for POTUS.

As I recall, the Fed has two main goals: keep inflation in check (target was about 2%) and keep unemployment low (about 4%). Often those goals are in conflict.

There are two main theories for macro-Economics: Fiscal (supported by Keynesians) and monetary policy (advocated by Milton Friedman). I do not think either theory ALONE explains and predicts all US Economic activity; our Economy is much too complex for one theory, as things now stand.

To blame ALL Economic woes on one man or one President is much too simplified an approach. So is giving (and/or taking) ALL CREDIT by one President.

Deficits keep growing and GOT BIGGER, over time, even adjusted for inflation. Trump is trying to break the AMERICAN ADDICTION to running HUGE deficits to keep the status quo going. These deficits are UNTENABLE and dangerous, especially to my children and grandchildren. And both Parties (Democrats and Republicans) are to BLAME.

Some of the biggest deficits occurred under Biden and the BIGGEST one, in 2020, was under Trump as the Federal Government tried to fight the Economic Downturn caused by the COVID shut down of the US Economy. We simply OVERDID it, as usual. Biden's last 3 BUDGETS had HUGE deficits (as we have stated earlier, I am rather sure). And YES, Trump's is BIGGER, but that can be explained by COVID in 2020. The over stimulation of the Economy in 2020 led, in LARGE part, to the INFLATION under Biden.

And we can clearly see that Biden made NO REAL effort to reduce the Deficit in a significant manner. And those deficits led to the INFLATION under Biden; that is basically Keynesian economics.

Looks to me like Trump did his share to increase deficits during the first three years. Then in his fourth year it skyrocketed (admittedly, that was the pandemic year, and pretty much every government in the world had the same idiotic response). Looks like Biden inherited quite a mess, and did bring deficits down (although admittedly not fast and not enough.)

Yeah, about that. More money has been thrown at DOGE than any "waste" found. Which has conveniently not been shown. Just random mass firings throughout most departments, some of which was actually created to oversee someone that has a conflict of interest, like Musk, and keep them from going nuts. Like he did.

And Trump and "fiscal" are like oil and water. Meant to be kept separate, but when mixed, have awful consequences. Like ignoring what the courts say, overreaching with power, throwing tariffs at everything, including freakin' penguins, threatening Canada as a 51st state, not ruling out using the military on Greenland, getting into a tradewar with China, with the consumers being the real losers, no matter what, going golfing (again) over attending the arrival of the 4 Americans that died in Europe, and so much more.

Oh, and before the tariffs even went into effect, but simply announcing them, Trump LOST the US Economy $6 trillion so far. How much more is gonna be gone when they do go into effect?

Conservatives just can't seem to admit to the numbers, they just throw around blame willy nilly when convenient and try to take all the glory when things turn around.

If we are just going to make specious arguments that aren't supported by facts but are designed to win votes... Biden slashed more federal spending that any republican in history. He adopted a Trump spending budget of 8 trillion dollars and cut it back to 6.3 trillion in just two years! He managed to cut the federal budget by 20%, while growing GDP 2.5%/year. He's did everything republicans say they wanted for the last 30 years without raising taxes and they blame him for spending too much!
