In his first professional season, Marino threw for 2,210 yards and 20 touchdowns. He was named NFL Rookie of the Year and he was also the first rookie to start at quarterback in the Pro Bowl.

In 1984, Dan Marino really burst into the forefront of the NFL. It took him just eight games to beat Bob Griese's single-season team record for touchdown passes, and nine weeks to top Griese's record for most passing yards in one season.

Marino capped off an incredible season by setting the single-season NFL records for touchdown passes (48 ), completions (362), and yards (5,084). The only thing that could have made this dream season better would have been a Super Bowl victory, but unfortunately for Marino and the rest of the Dolphins, they were beaten in the Super Bowl by the San Francisco 49ers.

On November 12th, 1995, Marino broke the NFL record for career passing yards when he eclipsed Fran Tarkenton's mark of 47,003. On November 26th, Dan broke Tarkenton's record for most career touchdown passes by throwing number 343 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Dan Marino became the only quarterback to top the 60,000 yard passing mark. He also became the only quarterback to toss more than 400 touchdown passes. He has thrown more pass attempts and more completions than anyone else in the history of the game.

Johny Unitas. He actaully called his own plays and was the smartest quarterback also.

Yeah, Marino has all the passing records, but Favre is second in all of them, and about to pass Marino in some of them. Plus he is a better leader, is tougher (over 200 consecutive games, the next highest for a QB is like 100), and he has won more superbowls; Farve 1, Marino 0, and games. Isn't that the most important thing, how good of a leader a QB is and how much he wins? That's why Favre is the best, tied with Elway.

There have been tons of players who have gone to Super Bowls..It does not make them the best at their position. Had Marino had a decent RB at any time during his career he'd have more than one ring.

Farve has won more games than Marino. Look it up. He's second to Elway. And I never said he had more touchdown passes or yards than Marino. I said he was second and will have more TDs than Marino. And stats aren't always agood measure of how good someone is. I would rather have a winner than someone who just has good stats.

Farve and Elway are definantly two of the best modern qbs.. but so many things have changed that recent and past qbs can hardly be compared.

Some of you are saying that because Dan never won a Superbowl, then he isn't the greatest, therefore, should Terry Bradshaw be #1? He had 4 rings and I think 3 Superbowl MVP's (I voted for Favre because HELLO 222 straight games and is second in passing touchdowns, yards (Maybe), total staight games started out of any postion (Behind a T from Tenneesse with like 300 starts) and Tied for first with 3 MVP's
