While I do believe that RE should continue to be compulsory, I do think there should be a limit to how far the teachers go. Showing the kids the beliefs and activities of other religions, so that they can make an informed and free choice should they wish to later in life, is necessary, and appropriate. However going as far as forcing kids to pray to Allah; this isn't teaching the kids. If anything this will give them a negative viewpoint of Islam, being forced into it, and we have enough Muslim haters in this country as it is.

And for that matter I believe 'being brought up Christian/Jewish/Hindu/Muslim/Jedi' is a load of old tosh aswell, can you honestly say that you believe in God/Allah/Jehovah/any other deity when all you have known is that deity? I agree. There are a lot of things that I learned but was not forced to do. I learned about the American civil war yet never dressed up as a Confederate or Yank. I learned about evolution but never had to walk around the class semi-erect dragging a club. Heck, soon kids will be forced to walk down the hall holding hands with a "same sex partner" to learn that all lifestyles of ok.
