Ditto. But in his defense, he has been around a while, and he does know what is going on.
He's been around for awhile. And I'd stop right there. Trust me on this one.

weight classes are bs but you guys are missing the point by looking at fighters skill, speed, weight, strengh etc. apart from the fighters, trainers, training partners etc a fight with a ref and rules is for the spectators entertainment. the main purpose of having a weight catergory is to get two fighters who are roughly the same in all aspects to get a better, longer fight with the upper hand going to and fro between the fighters as the fight goes on. yes quick knockouts are spectacular and entertaining for a little while but people would soon get bored. on the whole quick will beat big 75% of the time

Have you seen the old UFC tournaments. Have you ever heard of Royce Gracie? I didn't think so.

The UFC started out without weight classes and at the time it really was the "Ultimate Fighting Champinship." Somebody earlier mentioned that the Anderson Silva is moving up a weight class. Hopefully this won't detract to much from his speed as this was always one of his strong points. The bigger a fighter gets the slower he is and it should be up to them to find their ideal balance. A champion should defy conventional logic and anyone who knows anything about the history of the sport knows that bigger is not always better.

are you bragging about knowing who royce gracie is? not exactly a hidden secret of the fighting world. i disagree with your main point that weight classes are BS. fights should end with the best fighter winning. that is the purpose of weight classes. if you put urijah faber up against, say rampage jackson, i would say that rampage is going to win a much higher percentage of the time than he would if he weighed the same. i don't want to see fights where the bigger guy wins just because he is bigger. i want to see fights where the best fighter wins. thats what weight classes are for.

and while i think joe rogan is a pretty crappy announcer, he obviously knows his shit when it comes to MMA.
