Now all the Raw and Smackdown shows have are matches that go for 1 minute before being stopped by interference or DQ, or in-ring promos where someone ends up getting attacked. Someone always ends up taking a kick to the face or a chair shot, and instead of showing a backstage interview, they replay that same stupid chair shot at least 3 times and chew up 3 minutes of tv time by doing this. I think it's about time they hired some new creative writing staff, because they seem to have absolutely NO ideas for storylines anymore.
awesome post. I think it's the same as everything else in our society, it becomes big business and goes straight to shit. Movies, music, tv etc. To compare, movies are becoming more and more stupid, more special effects and explosions, less dialogue and actual acting. Wrestling, while it was never really high brow haha, did have some good story lines, exciting characters etc, thats why it became so popular. But as you've pointed out, its all just short-attention span grabbers, no backstage interviews because they will lose the viewers attention because no one wants to appreciate anything anymore, its just now now now. I stopped watching WWF around 2000, was getting unbearable, especially since I was brought up on The Hulkster, Macho, Ted DiBiase, Mr. Perfect RIP, Legion of Doom, those were the days...
