Kinda of funny. Obama's father is from Kenya while Mccain's linenage has been in the US for a long time. Yet it's more legal for Obama to be president than McCAin.

if both of his parents were U.S. citizens when he was born then he would automatically be a U.S. citizen no matter where he was born right?

We had something similar happen in Australia. A young lady by the name of Jackie Kelly from the Liberal party (your Republicans) stood for election in the seat of Lindsey, West Sydney. This area is overwhelmingly Labour (your Democrats).

She lived in the area and had an illustrious career in the air force and kicked arse at the election.

Then someone discovered she wasn't from around here. She was a New Zealander. Her election was invalid.

That pissed a lot of people of. The way most of us saw it was that if it is ok for her to risk her life for us in the military, it is ok for her to represent us in parliament.

So they held another election. She renounced her NZ citizenship and received an even bigger majority.

Moral of the story.
Those who try and disqualify war veterans may end up galvanising support for the candidate.

My dad was in the Air Force stationed in Taiwan. He was a U.S. Citizen at the time of my birth in Taiwan. My birth Certificate says that I am a U.S. Citizen Born Abroad. This makes me a natural born citizen.

I think the ruling about the Panama base (or any other base on foreign soil) not being U.S. territory is in place to keep Non Citizens from coming on base just to give birth and automatically gain U.S. Citizenship for their child.

My source is from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural-born_citizen

Section 1 of Article II of the Constitution contains the clause:

“ No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States. ”

and

John McCain, who ran in 2000 and is running in 2008, was born at the US military base Coco Solo in the Panama Canal Zone to U.S. parents. The Panama Canal Zone was under United States sovereignty between 1903 and 1979 but was unincorporated. [10] Contrary to the Time Magazine article cited, the Panama Canal Zone remained Panamanian Territory under the terms of the Hay-Buneau-Varilla Treaty of 1903. State Department Document 7 FAM 1116.1-4 titled, Not Included in the Meaning of "In the United States" includes the following: "c. Despite widespread popular belief, U.S. military installations abroad and U.S. diplomatic or consular facilities are not part of the United States within the meaning of the 14th Amendment. A child born on the premises of such a facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth."

If John McCain becomes President, it will be a fraud.

The reasonable individuals have already explained why this is a load of nonsense, but I'll add this: that's just low, man. I'm not too fond of McCain either, but you seem to be stooping even lower than the New York Times...

It's lower than the NY Times because I am not the NY Times. Sorry, it was an impetous statement. But it doesn't mean I am voting for McCain, he is a BushDick sucking neocon sonofagun who got preferencial treatment for singing like a songbird in Hanoi. Damn it, another impetous totally unfounded statement on McCain, I really need to stop that.

then by that logic all the presidents from washington to monroe are not legal presidents

and then if u go by that logic, what about things like this

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is a part of the United States Bill of Rights. It prohibits the federal legislature from making laws "respecting an establishment of religion" (the "Establishment Clause") or that prohibit free exercise of religion

if by your logic that mccain is not a legal candidate, then according to the first amendment it is legal to pray in schools :)

What's wrong with praying in school? As long as it is done or allowed to be done privately and personally. When I was a kid, the teacher actually forced all the students to pray and say the pledge of allegiance every morning before classes began. I know prayer isn't done anymore, but I don't know about the pledge, I am assuming that that isn't done anymore either. But if someone wants to pray or say the pledge in school on their own merit, and it is not infringing on any other students rights, then I am all for it.

Arnie's parents aren't American citizens, so no it isn't okay (not yet anyway, there are those who want to change the Constitution so Arnie can run for president, that is another debate entirely).

Message to some: You can be in denial all you want, you can say just how heroic McCain is and how he should lead this country, it doesn't change the fact that he is not legally allowed to do so.

You're wrong. US military zones and foreign embassys are considered American soil. Not to mention the fact that "natural born" doesn't necesarily mean "born on US soil." You would be hard pressed to make the argument that a child born while his American parents were on vacation and returned home with the child is not a natural born American.

You have made up a false definition for natural born and your argument is stupid. That's why only you are making it.

Shit! You out did me! You are so invaribly right, it isn't even funny. China is owning everything, and the American economy belongs almost entirely to Chinese interests.

I got this really nice baseball cap with an American flag on the front and a yellow Support Our Troops ribbon stitched in the back, but when you read the label, what does it say? MADE IN CHINA!

It is legal to pray in schools. It's illegal for a public school to force you to pray.

Just another example of how fundamentalist Christians preach separation of church and state and at the same time endorse by their actions a state-sanctioned Christian Church.
