Most certainly.

I'd eat pancakes for supper for it personally.

hecter wrote:116Soldier, you seem to be asking us to back up out beliefs with facts... The fact of the matter is: Xians and other religions have their religious texts and figure heads that they believe in and trust (as well as a few other things they consider to be facts, but we're not getting into that...) and atheists dismiss all these texts and figureheads as myths and so they go with the only logical conclusion that when we die, we rot in the ground.

So your saying that you choose to be an Atheist because you dismiss religious texts and "figure heads." Therefore nothing happens when you die, you just cease to exist. I have a question to follow that though, what if you are wrong?

That is a valid point. I am an agnostic (borderline atheist, really), and I have to say, sometimes I tell myself maybe I should believe in God just to be on the safe side. But then I reason, if everyone used that logic, and there was no God, that would just be a waste of life, wouldn't it? All that time going to Church, worrying about burning in Hell and whatnot, and at the end of it all you just gave the head of whatever church it is power. So I'll take my chances with what I actually believe.

So then for the sake of conversation, lets say that the teachings of the Bible are true and there is a God. Would you like to know how you can be sure you would go to heaven?

Well, assuming that the teachings are true non-believers such as myself go to hell. That already rules me out from worshiping the guy. In my mind any benevolent creator (the only kind I'd be interested in) shouldn't hold you hostage to his whims, and he shouldn't take some sick pleasure in creating people just to kiss his ass.

Wow. What sensory stimulation. Being alive is good.

A hearty combination of pancakes and Hendrix could prevent 80% of suicides, I'm sure.

You believe in reincarnation and the goal is to reach enlightenment. To my understanding that is believing in buddhism

Naw..

I came to my beliefs by myself. Buddhism has/had nothing to do with the conclusions I have come too with my research.

Moslims beleive in life after death, Christians beleive in life after death.

They sure as hell don't beleive in each other.

We die. That's it. Noting else after that. Sadly, it's true. We/you/I will get buried like everyone else. People will cry over you/i/our bodies, and we will rot in our graves until our body decomposes. That's it. No heaven, or hell. No reincarnation. Nothing else.

 You most definitely do not know that Buddhists aren't the only ones that believe in that.

1st of all I only said that so I don't have to repeat all the things all over again.

The way you said it sounded exactly like buddhism. Buddhism was the only option which fitted that.

But if you believe a religion which you made up( :? ) that's fine

It doesn't have to be a religion. It could be a psychological out-look on life. It could be what he believes. It could be what he think fits. It doesn't have to be Buddhism.

haha I know. but to some humans are considered mammals, therefore I put it. lol

So if the Bible is true, then in Ephesians 2:8-9 which says "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God." We would have to conclude that through faith in God we have been saved. "Not of yourselves" meaning not of our works but by God's grace. No more worrying about maybe I'll die and be extinct or I don't know what will happen or maybe I'll have a new life as a butterfly. Its the only way we can be sure. Unless of course you don't believe these teachings. But its all personal choice. I'd rather devote to God then to risk life in hell.

So, with that reasoning, you're going to gone because of your fear of hell? Sounds like Dark Age Catholicism to me.

116Solider wrote:haha I know. but to some humans are considered mammals, therefore I put it. lol

Uh, humans are mammals. I was talking about reptiles and birds and non-Mammalia animals. Trees decompose too, which aren't animals.

No I think you misunderstood. It seems the most reasonable to me. Heaven is a better place then hell. Here's a point. If a Christian is wrong, and they just become extinct, they will never know. But if an Atheist is wrong and there is a God then they will go to hell.

I was simply relating to mammals because they are considered by some the closest to us. And I agree that reptiles and birds and non-Mammalia animals decompose the same. Trees decompose and they are considered living but wouldn't be good for the sake of an analogy and are unrelated to humans. lol
