Now I'm more confused. You mean it would be comparable to worshiping... oh, say, the sun?
Yes. Do you know of any present-day religions that involve direct sun-worship? People worshipped the sun because they didn't understand what it was, they only knew that it gave life to everything that they knew of. To them, it seemed like a god. Now that we know what it is, I wouldn't say that it would make sense to worship it. Would you?
No I don't, but first of all I don't think we know everything about energy atm... and whether or not energy is a divine being, it does run the universe, does it not? Sure, the sun provides life, but there would be no sun without basic energy, along with all the depths of the universe. We could sustain life for a little bit if the sun suddenly stopped giving light one day. But without energy, life would be inconceivable.
And second of all, in our religion's mandatory "utopia world", we wouldn't need to worship God. We wouldn't need to get up early on Sundays and do our thang. The point is a constant relationship with God throughout the entire week. I think we'd think of God more as a father than as an almighty smite-happy divine being.
