While I don't agree with your choice of candidate I do admire that you are so enthusiastic about the voting process. If only more people would care and get involved I think our country would be better served.

although im not necessairly going to disagree, seemingly if peoples biggest criticism of Romney is that he flip flops on some value issues, this possibly should be let slide because these are the issues that are going to be least likely to change in someones term.

and coffeecream is quite right with his last point. If everyone cared about the political process wed probably do quite better. Quite a few people over this holiday season have walked by me and someone else saying that sounds like politics (though they probably werent planning on stopping to talk to us if it wasnt).

Granted, values issues are probably going to remain static and contested, but my point about Romney's flip flopping on them is that it shows what a fickle politician he is. His views sway with the political wind. Let's take a look at his record:

In October of 1994, Romney was a staunch pro-choicer, and stated that he "would not waver" on the topic. That's a quote I'm pulling straight out of his gubernatorial debate of that year:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=a9IJUkYUbvI

Massachusetts, as we all know, is a state known for its heavily liberal slant in values issues, so naturally if you want to win an election there you can't be pro-life. Smart move, Mitt.

So then he goes a Utah a few years later, and considers a run for office there. He sends a letter to the editor of a Utah newspaper indicating that he has had a change of heart and has decided to become pro-life. Utah, as we all know, is a very conservative state due to the large population of Mormons. Value voters are going to tend to vote conservative, and there's a lot of them. Smart move again, Mitt.

Then he goes back to Massachusetts. Runs for governor again. Once again he's staunchly pro-choice, and never wavered on the issue. Unfortunately for him, his opponent in the gubernatorial race read the article in the Utah newspaper indicating Mitt's supposed "change of heart." Woops. Busted.

So now he's running for the nomination of a party which is largely affected by the Christian right. So once again he's pro-life.

Can you count.... three flip flops? And each at an opportune moment?

Point is, Mitt Romney changes his views depending on what's hot and what's not in the political climate he occupies. Which goes back to what I said earlier: Don't vote for Mitt Romney, he's just another run-of-the-mill political slimeball.

And one of my favorite youtube videos of all time... RON PAUL OWNS MITT ROMNEY IN THE FRICKIN FACE!!!!!!!!!!!

What's frustrating for me is it seems like our primary is going to be a popularity contest. While Clinton is out there flip-flopping on driver's licenses and Obama is dancing on the Ellen DeGeneres show, other candidates are not even being taken seriously.

Yes! My favorite, Dennis Kucinich, definitly will not get elected, even though he has some of the most representative views of this country.

You'd be surprised how little people give a shit that he is mormon?

You would know that better than me since you live up there. I'm not saying that someone's beliefs shouldn't have anything to do with why we vote for them, but at the same time the main thing is that they have good plans for the country and not just others that believe like themselves.

Victory for Huckabee!

Everyone knows he'll win in Iowa, I just hope the momentum from winning there could help his poll numbers in New Hampshire and give him a bigger lead in South Carolina.

Don't be so sure, we'll find out.

I'm really excited for the primaries. I mean, this year the contestants are all completely different, from all walks of life, and they each seem to have a pretty good chance at winning.
