I agree with Paradicecity9 on Bruce Dickenson smoking Bach.
Well, if people would post a link to some of their person's work, I might be able to help out on that a little bit, but so far, I'm the only one to have provided a link, and for both of the guys I mentioned.

Ok but you better study up on these two key voices of the '80s you keep saying were your favorite musical times.

Keeping in mind this is live, not like that polished studio link you provided of Sebastian trust me live there's a bigger gap than on CD too.

Geoff Tate with his band Queensryche.

Queensryche didn't see the same commercial sucess as Iron Maiden and Skid Row but most people agree they are a much better out fit musically.

he's pretty good, sounds like Micheal Kiske, and I prefer HElloween of the 2 bands.

I second Freddy Mercury....

Eddie Vedder & Pearl Jam are my faves....but for pure vocal talent, yet sticking to that genre, I go with Chris Cornell....

Kurt Cobain!

No, but seriously, Rivers Cuomo and Eddie Vedder are a couple of good'uns.

If we're talking purely technical talent, Fabio Lione from Rhapsody (of Fire) can really sing. Chris Cornell of Soundgarden (Link) and Audioslave (Link) is also all over the board. You gotta listen to one after the other to see what I mean.

But the "best singer"? It's impossible to say that anyone is, as it's 100% subjective, as shown by the guy who said the singer from Avenged Sevenfold is the greatest.

Why not change the thread to "favorite singer"?

Hmmm...I don't usually make posts, but this one strikes a "chord" with me.

I'll stick to Rock/Heavy Metal which, in my opinion, requires the greatest range and depth (with the exception of opera). Here are my top 5 nominees (in order):

1. Michael Matijevic (Steelheart)
2. Michael Sweet (Stryper)
3. Sebastian Bach (Skid Row)
4. Jeff Tate (Queensryche)
5. Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)

Honorable Mention:

Rob Halford (Judas Priest)
Paul Stanley (Kiss)
Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)
David Coverdale (Whitesnake)

Not Rock/Heavy Metal, but Tenor, Ronan Tynan, deserves to be on this list, too.

I know I just dated myself. I'm going back to the Tourney Forum now. :?

Ah Ronan, a great Tenor by all means (even though I have been a Base for 3 years).
"Eh, whatever."

I am more of a hard rock guy, so Bruce Dickinson is one of my favorites, but I think Aaron Neville has an incredible singing voice.

In addition to all the other great singers mentioned, I'd like to reiterate Matthew Bellamy. The man has some cords on him.
